I really liked the atmosphere. It's pretty much just a pub, but on Cannery Row, it's a nice escape. Decent selection of brews, a... nice offering of cocktails, including a real Dark & Stormy. I only had the pretzel bites, which I enjoyed, but the menu hadsomething for everyone. Definitely worth a visit if you're in a pub mood. The service was good as well. Update April 2022: The Salty Seal is doing great! We came back to Monterey and stopped in again, and we were just as happy with... our visit as the first time. We ordered the Fried Fish Tacos and Black and Stormy burger, as well as various mixed drinks.Service was great and we had live music to enjoy. Definitely a great vibe on Cannery Row! Original Review: Our visit to theSalty Seal was great! When we went July 2021, the back bar and patio were open (not the front room), so we walked to the backand were pleasantly surprised! The server was very friendly and helpful, service was fast, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.The menu isn't huge, but the burger is totally customizable and the specialty drinks were very good. There are tons of differentseating options, with tables inside, high tables undercover, and several tables outside by heaters and firepits. All in all, awonderful experience! I recommend stopping here for dinner after your trip to Cannery Row - it was exactly what we wanted afterspending all day walking on the beach! Read more

Fish chowder was fantastic and fish and chips were fresh, with a great batter and a lot of fish. Stopped by here after seeing... an ad. Staff was extremely friendly, always asking how things were and could anything be better. Had a great time, with goodfood and reasonable prices. I saw none of the issues that some of the low ratings stated and I have my suspicion as to theirvalidity. We had an awesome meal, wife stated the chowder was the best she had ever had. Read more
