We found this place on Yelp and it was highly rated so we thought we would give it a shot. We were glad that we did!\n\nService... was wonderful, everything that we had was great, and it\'s in a very nice space. There were even a few vegetarian (not veganthough) options on the menu for me! I would highly recommend Alejandro\'s! Read more

This is Monterey so expect inflated prices so I cannot justify 4 stars for just pricing. $15 for the chips but it was well worth... it when the refills were covered and there was a large portion of fresh guacamole. I opted for the octopus to start. Delicious, tender and full of flavor. I had the pollo after. The issue was after having so much flavor in the Octopus the pollo was goodbut lack luster. It’s great for someone who enjoys a more mild dish. I will return for the apps for sure. The tacos came with3 and the services seemed appropriate. I need to come back to try the desert. Downside they do not split checks for large groupsas some mom and pop places will for you. Up side no added gratuity on large parties so you can tip according to service. I stillthink it’s relatively on the high end for the amount of food but again, downtown monterey and it’s typical for the area. Read more

Most aspects of the meal were good or better. Didn\'t like the mushroom tacos and the chicken in banana leaves. Please don\'t... make me deconstruct my food from it\'s inedible banana casing at the table, it\'s very messy. And why would you put toppings ontop of the banana leaves. So we have to move the stuff off the leaves, then unwrap it and make a mess with like 2 feet of bananaleaves. The server even warned us that we had to unwrap the chicken as some of the customers hadn\'t realized it\'s wrapped inleaves and complained of taste when they ate it lol. I would probably have other nice things to say about the meal but I reallyhated those leaves and can\'t remember anything else at the moment. Read more

Laura was an excellent server and Alex the bartender made wonderful drinks! Food was delicious and surprisingly authentic, and... the decor is STUNNING. Seriously, the atmosphere is one of the best parts (which is really saying something since the food ispretty incredible). Also found the menu very accessible. Read more

Do not order the special!!\nI was invited to try this restaurant by a friend who made it very clear from the beginning that she... would be paying for everybody\'s tab. We arrived over 20 minutes early to our reservation time and they were able to sit usdespite it being a busy Saturday night. The restaurant location is exactly what you would expect to find on Alvarado street.Delicious drinks and entrees listed on their menu- entrees between $25 to $40, drinks on average about $15, exactly what youwould expect for the Monterey area.\nWaitress was very friendly and came by to take our drinks and appetizer orders. She askedif we would like to hear the specials, we said yes.\nShe mentioned the steak special and made it sound very delicious. One ofthe members in our group said he would like to try the steak special- the waitress quickly added that the steak was on thelarger side and that she always suggested it be a shared entree between 2 individuals so I agree to share it with him.\nShedidn\'t share cost for the steak special but being that nothing on the menu was listed over $40 I assumed it would be pricedsomewhere around $60 to $80.\nI was completely mortified when the bill came and saw that the steak special was listed at $170, Iwas a guest and would have never ordered something so expensive knowing that I was not the one responsible for the bill.\nI wasmore than willing to pay for the portion of my bill when my friend insisted that it was her treat and she paid for everyone.\nIquickly zelled her $200 to make up for the meal that I had been partially responsible for. I was raised better than to takeadvantage of someones generosity and the truth was I was mortified.\nAlejandro\'s shame on you for misleading yourpatrons.\nDespite the restaurant having great food I think our entire group was left with a sour taste in our mouths and none ofus will be returning.
