This is one of the few restaurants I go to these days!!! Why? Because it is a fine atmosphere with friendly staff. I am a good... cook and that is why I generally don't eat out all that much! What can I say, The Smithy is a classic! Great food, especially their steaks! The atmosphere is cozy and romantic, cocktails and... wine are well made, and their staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Sadly, many family run restaurants have closed their doors,unable to overcome pandemic restrictions. The Smithy, however, has thrived! We?re definitely looking forward to our next visit! Read more
I?ve been to a LOT of steakhouses. From TX to NYC and many in between. The Smithy is an absolute hidden gem right in our own... backyard in Monroe, CT! I would put their streaks up against ANY of the high end steakhouses I?ve visited. Perfect sized,uncomplicated salad bar included. Always nice to start out with a cocktail and some cheese and crackers! (Who else does this??).The value for your dollar is very well spent here! Generous portions, generous sized adult beverages?The Smithy has it all!! The Smithy has always been a favorite restaurant. We love the salad bar, always very hot baked potato and an assortment of... excellent entrees. As a former employee of the Smithy, I can proudly say that this establishment is by far one of the most delicious and the... hospitality is like no other! Give it a try and you?ll see why I love it so much! The owner, Maureen is so sincere and cares somuch about her employees, regulars, and ALL customers who walk through the door! Always accommodates to meet customers needs.The atmosphere is romantic yet family friendly at the same time. I have been to The Smithy two times since moving to Easton a few months ago. The Rib Eye steak was super tender and delicious!... And the baked potato was just perfect. The Smithy is a well-established icon in Monroe, in existence since the 1970?s! When you walk into the restaurant, you get a... nostalgic rush to a time gone by where good food and appreciation for the customer drove the restaurant experience. Maureen,Ron and the entire staff work hard to deliver great food at reasonable prices and make you feel like a guest at a large, familydinner table. After being warmly greeted and seated, the salad & cheese bars are easily accessible, fresh and tasty. Whileall of the entrees are excellent, the steaks are the stars of the menu, regardless of which cut you choose. Cooked perfectlyto your choice of temperature, they melt in your mouth. Coupled with a large and perfectly cooked baked potato, thisrestaurant is truly a steak lover's delight.
