My husband and I enjoyed dinner at the Blackwater Cafe last night. The food was good. He had the fried shrimp and I had panned... fried Mahi mahi. The breading on the shrimp was light and crisp. The fish was tender with a light nicely flavored white sauce.The bartender served up an excellent Old Fashion and then a Chocolate Martini for dessert. We will ask for our waitress, Rachelagain. She was attentive, personable and friendly without being too much. The real reason for the 5 star rating though is forwhat happened after we left the restaurant. I accidentally left my purse hooked over my chair. Today the owner returned it to meat our lake house after researching our address. Kudos to him. What a delightful evening over the summer! I am not sure why it had taken us so long to try this place out. The Sunday $4... Martinis and 1/2 Price Apps (Truffle fries!) specials were awesome. And, the rest of our food was just as great - Pork chop andShrimp & Grits entrees, Key lime cheesecake dessert. The service was also top notch, which is so rare to find these days sinceCovid. We passed by this restaurant dozens of times during our SML stay, and decided to give it a try. Glad we did, the service was... excellent and the food was really enjoyable. The burgers were juicy and tasty and came with an order of fries. Try the fries inthe honey butter that comes with the bread basket. They almost taste like waffles. Wouldn't have thought to give it a try untilI overheard other diners mention it. Read more
