We came here for our anniversary dinner and the food, staff and ambiance was really nice. I ordered the beet and avocado salad,... (as I am on a vegetarian diet) with chips an guacamole for starters. The chips seemed to be made in house and I think this guacwas the best I had in all of Minnesota thus far. I am originally from LA and I travel all over the Midwest for work trying newMexican restaurants and this was my fave for guac and chips. My husband order the carne asada plate. It was supposed to beserved with beans and tortillas but he declined the beans and they forgot to bring him tortillas which was a bummer. I?d say itwould be nice if the staff offered an alternative like rice for those who don?t want beans because he essentially just ate meatand green onions for dinner lol. The food was ok. Very Americanized. Service was slow. There was only 1 lady to host, take order and serve. I asked for hot salsa... when I ordered my food but they forgot about it. I had to ask for it again. The salsa did not come until I was done eating. Iorder dessert and ask for a side of ice cream. The Ice cream came in a 3 oz cup and melted. I was done eating and ask for mycheck. I asked the server how much was the ice cream and she said $3, I stated that I was not going to pay $3 for an extra small3oz cup of ice cream. 10/10 experience - We came in for an early dinner and Mike took extremely good care of us. He explained the menu with ease and... offered amazing suggestions. It was our first time at Sonora and we will 100% be back. Definitely get the Sonora bowl witheither of the pork options + get some of their spicy hot sauce on the side.
