I've eaten here a couple times, and each time I've been thoroughly impressed. There's a great selection of beers, brandies,... whiskies and wines to keep you entertained and the service is quick and pleasant. My favorite item on the menu is definitely thehomemade chicken sandwich, which is very flavorful and sits atop a bed of homemade slaw. A fresh bun makes the sandwich evenbetter. I've also tried their steaks and seafood, which was also very good. They also have some great specials to keep your bartab low. They make some very good drinks here as well, and it's a popular place for professionals downtown. The atmosphere isslightly upscale, dimly lit and intimate, but you don't have to be dressed up to go here. Dark wood is abundant throughout thebar and seating area. Read more

We got tickets to go to the Phantom of the Opera in Milwaukee. We wanted to go check out a new place to grab some food. After... looking online we found a place right next to the theater, The Rumpus Room - A Bartolotta Gastropub. We called ahead and theysaid they where booked up but did have some high top seating areas for walk in?s. We decided to roll the dice and see if wecould get in. We got some of the last seats left in the place right in a corner of the restaurant, we really enjoyed the decorof the building and the old time lighting. Our seating area was at the Charcuterie counter. We were able to watch as salads werehand made, desserts were prepared, and the cheeses assembled for entrées. we got to meet Dominic who was preparing food. He wasgreat to chat with and explained to us the process of his work. we could tell he's very passionate and a perfectionist when itcomes to his job. We had some great conversations with him. After asking James, our waiter, what he liked and after hearing hisrecommendations, I ordered the surf and turf. I ordered the steak medium rare which was cooked just right. I have to say thehighlight of my meal was the scallops that came with their surf and turf. The flavor was exquisite. The meal also came withmashed potato and green beans. Shayla ordered the pan seared salmon which came with Brussel sprouts, butternut squash puree andcranberry sauce. We eat Brussel sprouts often, these were cooked nice and crispy. Over all it was a good experience with goodfood. What made it stand out to us though was being able to converse with Dominic and hear about his favorite foods he gets toprepare and his experience working there. It seems like the restaurant can get busy. Our waiter James mentioned that duringtheater season it is especially busy. Also be prepared to look for parking. They do validate parking, but only from a specificlot so we suggest calling ahead and asking regarding that.Price $$-$$$ Read more

The Rumpus Room has a limited menu with delicious food. I sat at the bar and decided to sample the beer cheese soup, bleu cheese... wedge salad and brussel sprouts. The beer cheese soup was great and the spices popcorn gave it a unique texture difference andflavor. The wedge salad wasn't as memorable. The brussel sprouts were simply fried and salted, but they were crisp and awesome. Read more

Food was not worth the price, drinks were not consistent. The beer cheddar soup was horrible, we brought it up to our server but... nothing was done. Ordered a burger medium well, came less then medium. Ordered the candy bacon as an app, barely had anything onit, it was just thin sliced fried bacon. Appetizer also came with a deviled egg, overall it was ok but I had way better. I waslooking forward to coming here but was disappointed in the end. Read more
