After a day out and about, Andrea Dexter and I stumbled across Red Lion Pub for dinner. Always a fan of a good British Pub, and... noticing soccer on the television inside, we opted to go in for dinner. The interior is reminiscent of a true UK establishment,a well stocked wooden bar with cozy seating and a few televisions around to keep up on the various games. We were greeted andseated quickly, and offered a series of special drinks (we both abstained). Very shortly thereafter we got our order in, andquickly thereafter we were served. As an appetizer we picked up the Scotch eggs, which came with 4 halves (2 eggs), wrapped insausage and deep fried. These were incredible, with great taste and perfect texture, and came with a nice mustard sauce overthe top. Definitely recommend these! For a main, Andrea Dexter had a chicken, potato and corn bowl, similar to those you mightfind at a KFC. While an improvement on the fast food offering, and a good meal, this was nothing to write home about...justFINE. I had the Bangers and Mash, sticking to traditional UK fare. This was an excellent choice, as it hit EXACTLY the boxesyou'd be looking for in British food...peppery, savory, stick to your ribs food. I find English food hard to "write homeabout", but if you are looking for some great home-style UK cooking, this is a great option. We would definitely see this as agreat option to go and sit down, watch a soccer game and have a nosh! Try it out! Read more

I was in Milwaukee a few weeks back with some friends. While we were there, we caught a late lunch at the Red Lion Pub. The Red... Lion Pub is a multi story British Pub, sports bar, and eatery. I noticed that they even have seating in the outdoor patio on theroof, but this was closed at the time due to chilly weather. For lunch I had an entree of Bangers and Mash with a side ofScotch Eggs, and a couple beers. My friends had an order of Fish and Chips, Cheese curds, and Scotch Eggs. The Bangers and Mashwas just splendid, some of the best I have had in recent memory. Oh and in case you are wondering, Bangers are sausage links andMash is quite simply mashed potatoes. The entire dish consists of Two massive sausage links on top of mashed potatoes andsmothered in onion gravy. The sausage links were delightful! Browned on the outside, incredibly juicy on the inside, andperfectly seasoned. The potatoes were so smooth and mashed to perfection, with no lumps. The onion gravy was thick, creamy, andcontained large slivers of carrot. The whole dish coalesced wonderfully and I enjoyed every bite. As for the Scotch Eggs, thesealso impressed me. A Scotch Egg is an egg that is hard boiled, wrapped in sausage, covered in bread crumbs, and then deep fried. These particular Scotch Eggs also came garnished with some cilantro aioli sauce. Quite obviously the egg and sausage went greattogether and the whole thing was made even better by being deep fried. I loved them and I am tempted to try and make these athome sometime. While I was eating I washed everything down with two beers. The first beer I had on tap was a Bumble Bear BrownAle from Lakefront Brewery. This beer came dark brown with a nice frothy head. The beer was very smooth and had a nice maltyflavor with a touch of bitter. Definitely a good beer, especially on tap. I then followed this up with the classic and alwaysgreat glass of Guinness beer. What can I say really, it's Guinness and it is great! In reference Read more

I travel the US a lot and am always searching for a good British Pub (not always easy to find a GOOD one). Red Lion delivered.... Probably the best I’ve found for some authentic British food- yes they have good food. Nice beer selection too. I had a fewpints of Old Speckled Hen Fine Ale. Superb! And the Pasty? Equally delectable! GM recommended anything with their gravy and hedid not steer me wrong. 10/10 would highly recommend! ???? ???????? Read more

As always, Red Lion delivers when it comes to drinks & food of a UK persuasion… from the Giannis (lamb) burger to the Scotch... Eggs & corned beef delicacies, they’re all great. The “F*king Delicious” drink with the cinnamon stick is just as it’sname implies & their beer selection is great. Read more

The real deal. What a warm welcome I received from the owner David Price. Having lived in northern England a while back, I can... tell you that this is a true reflection of a "proper British Pub". The walls are aligned with vintage British toys and rocklegacy as well as autographed soccer jerseys of British players. If you like soccer, become a member of the fan club. The foodand drinks (full bar and draft on tap) along with a cozy atmosphere and stellar views across the river puts this spot at the topof my go-to list. Check out the the history of the owner's hometown and how it relates to some of the most famous 20th CenturyBritish authors. Read more

Definitely recommend! Being in Milwaukee on business and not familiar with the menu, the waitress recommended both appetizer and... entrée. Scotch eggs are wonderful, with the pan fried walleye was even better. Read more
