So this place serves up some ???????????????????????????????????? sweets. The line was out the door, so they are obviously doing... something right. We had a strawberry banana malt and a bananarama sundae. The malt was great, but didn't taste very "malty".The sundae was fantastic, though! Our kids couldn't get enough of it. Read more

I had no idea gillies existed! Have to say Gillies is in my top 5 custard places in milwaukee! The service was great! Very... welcoming and nice! We just had the custard. We had a vanilla in a cup with caramel sauce. The caramel was very good. We also had a scoop of... chocolate and a scoop of vanilla in a cup. We both agreed that the vanilla was by far the best of any of the other famous shopsin Milwaukee. The chocolate was just average. Simply put, Gillies is a Milwaukee institution. However, that doesn't mean it's fantastic. My wife and I were here recently and... there was a dog roaming around in back by the coolers. I've seen employees blow their nose and then go and scoop custard. Thesetypes of experience are routine. The food here is mediocre custard stand fare, the line is often long and their order accuracyisn't the best (admittedly it's been better the past few months). All that being said, Gillies has some of the finest custardin Milwaukee! They do a rotating custard of the day, the cones are never stale in my experience, and the mix in selection islarge. It's a little dirty, it's a little crowded?but if you stick to the custard and watch out for the dog, it's a greatlittle stand. Read more
I got a Root Beer Float, which I am surprised they sold to a minor (me). The root beer float was delicious and satisfied my... taste buds immensely! For a reasonable price I got three (full) scoops of vanilla ice cream poured into my foamy root beer cup.The outdoor facility of this establishment was reminiscent of a picnic area in the hold, but it suffices. This pleasantexperience was hindered by the HAUGHTY, LOUD, AWFUL announcement voice! I was just trying to shovel some beer coated spoonfulsof ice cream while I was interrupted by this annoying voice calling out orders. I don?t understand how there is any reason toshout orders outside when the orders are given and taken INSIDE.
