What a terrible evening! We had reservations for 6pm and it wasn't until after 7pm that the food came. In the resturant when we... came in was a large booking, and it seemed to me that the staff couldn't handle it. When we enquired were were told they wereregulars (so everyone else got second class service I guess); you'd think though that if these other diners were regulars theresturant would have a better system figured out for coping with things. Anyway, when the food finally came (I ordered the Fishand Chips), most of the fries (not chips) were burned or charred, and unbelievably over salted (please, just put condiments onthe table and let me salt, or not! my own food), the batter on the white fish was soggy and the fish was pretty slimy inside.Maybe we came at a bad time, maybe they were short staffed, maybe they couldn't cope, maybe, maybe. Either way it was an awfulevening (it was a special occasion as it turned out, sadly spoiled) and I'd never chance going back just in case it wasn't a oneoff. Giving one star because I can't give less than that; and because when one of our table asked a question about drinks ourserver told them they didn't know because they weren't a "wine guy" - love the honesty, biggest smile of the evening for me! Amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed the Cod. Had a very nice Martini. Dessert was homemade and fabulous. Highly recommend. Service... was very attentive as well. Read more
Dinner for 5 on July 23, 2022. Food and service was excellent. Love their house garlic salad-just the right amount of garlic &... EVOO. Monk fish was cooked to perfection. No complaints from anyone in our party. Atmosphere is lovely. Read more
This felt like a full circle moment for me - I worked as a dishwasher for a hot second at the Oyster House back in college (the... forefather of this establishment), but I never actually ate there or at the Milford House until now. I think it's a little toughto live up to the hype as the best restaurant in town - which is sometimes the result of the price point versus the quality ofthe offerings - but this is a noble contribution to the area. I came here for dinner last Saturday with my parents - theyactually did eat at the Oyster House once or twice in the 90s, but this was everyone's debut at the Milford House. The entrancelocation is a little awkward; the door facing the road and the most obvious place to enter is not utilized by customers. Youhave to go around the building to enter through the backdoor, briefly through a more blue-collar bar area, and then into therustic, more formal dining area. Huge points in their favor - despite the white tablecloths, they didn't even hesitate to let mein with my beach shorts and tank top (it was sweltering out, in my defense). Hunterdon County hospitality right there. To thatend, our waitress was excellent. She was super personable/friendly, and I also don't recall a significant wait time foranything. Top-notch service, so at the very least this place is a recommend on that basis alone. Since I wasn't paying, I wentfor the Milford Old-Fashioned (I think $12ish), along with the Wild Boar Meatball app ($6) and the Crab Norfolk (about $42). Icouldn't decide how I ultimately felt about this, but you can't really pre-game your dinner options here - every day, theMilford House posts their dinner menu on their Facebook page around noon. On one hand, I kind of love that the menu is differentevery day, but I wish you had a little more advance notice to make an educated dinner decision. I lean towards liking it, eventhough it meant I had to dust off my Facebook account as part of the process. (I moved to Instagram severa Read more

The staff was friendly, but it was probably some of the worst food I've ever tasted. Not sure how you make bread taste like dish... water. If it didn't taste bad it's because it didn't have much flavor at all. Portions are way too small for price. Read more
