Their seafood combination bowl is really good and I like that they let you substitute rice for lettuce to make the meal... healthier! Read more

Summary: Poke Bar is a welcome addition to the Middleton food scene, and it holds promise, but not without significant... improvement (especially in service and food quality). Best parts: ?new cuisine offering for Middleton ?great location in foodiepart of town ?clean, open, and bright space ?variety of ingredient selections* Worst parts: ?unapologetically badservice ?didn?t seem fresh ?mushy brown rice and too much sauce Other notes: ?fish-smell upon entering ?no option of sushirice ?*missing menu ingredients (purple rice, bean sprouts, etc) ?wonderful potential, so let?s see what happens! I can say I have tried nearly all the poke restaurants in Madison. This one is definitely not my favorite - too much sauce used... and the pickled ginger tasted a bit moldy. The scallops were mushy but the ahi was pretty good. If you go here, definitely paythe extra to get your sauce on the side. I don't care for the mayo based sauces, if you don't either get the teriyaki, eelsauce, or shoyu. The teriyaki and eel sauce taste very similar and for me are too sweet. Also, my preference is brown ricethat is not mushy so you can feel the grains (almost a soft crunchy like steel cut oats). I am not sure what the staff personmeant when they said it took them a very long time to make my order (two large poke bowls). I almost asked what they meant bythat statement. Anyway, Poke is an awesome dish I am challenging this restaurant to turn up the notch on their flavor profilesof their sauces - how about a lime ginger or maybe a ponzu or garlic aioli? Not sure if I will return - I feel like I need tocall them today and tell them to check the pickled ginger - that shouldn't taste moldy unless there is something that spilled init that is molding. In my opinion Poke is supposed to be an orchestra of flavors - mine was drenched in the chili sauce andoverpowered everything else. I won't post my favorites here out of respect to the owners. I have tried 5 of the Pokerestaurants in Madison area and unfortunately this one is at the bottom. I expected more being that this one is located nearsome of the best foodie food restaurants in Madison area (Middleton Plaza). No malice or anger in this post - I just hope theowners have the ability to receive this as constructive. Read more

Food is tasty, but... I ordered greens rather than rice, but got rice. Ordered a side of seaweed salad for $2 and it's in a tiny... container that is definitely not worth the price (weighs 25g in the container). I feel cheated and now I have to pick apart mydinner to remove the rice I can't have. There are other poké restaurants I will return to. Read more
