Exceptional customer service. Food was good over all. The ribs were great and flavorful and the kids burger was really good. The... corner bread was outstanding and my favorite thing. This is another BBQ place, think this is the first place where it started before they opened new places. The location if frugal,... and not very big. You seat in long camping tables where waiter will take care of you. You can have a large jar of beer, whileyou wait for the food to arrive, Brisket and Ribs are excellent, as well as the good service. Read more

Two things stood out on this visit--NOT my first: no more warm shaker glass jars with their trademark sauce, and NO BEER! They... mass produce their sauce now, smoky and vinegary. It's missing that sweet-tangy tamarind, and they give you those plastic saucecups individually. They had ribs, football and baseball onscreen but NO BEER! Their spares were the usual--delicious, as welltheir celery-seeded sweet/sour cole slaw and buttery sweet corn. Pork steak(s) were slightly overcooked, no juice and dry,lightly seasoned and got some char-smoke flavor. Wings were meaty and well made. Ice tea and lemonade were available but NOBEER! Edna, our server, a veteran of 20 years dealing with fussy diners, was funny and "hands on." My brother and I first atethere in 1959, way before that horrible fire pictured in that picture. Probably the best BBQ in South Florida and it's good enough to compete with many places around the country. Positives: 1. Great... food and they've improved over the years. -Shorty's is kind of a purist BBQ. Meaning they don't slather their meat with sauce orrubs so you get a very meaty taste that isn't drowned in seasoning. - You must ask for "Shorty's Sauce". It's a completelyunique BBQ sauce that fantastically pairs with almost everything on the menu. - Probably the only place on the planet that makesgood crinkle cut fries. - One of the few restaurants that serves pork steak and it is incredible. Soft on the tongue butexploding with BBQ pork flavor. It boggles my mind thinking why other places don't offer this cut of pork. 2. Excellentservice - They're laid back and very friendly. 3. Good atmosphere - With the long tables and numerous wall decorations,Shorty's creates a unique memory to enjoy. 4. Affordable price -Shorty's is one of the few BBQ places that still gives goodportions and good flavor at less than 20 a person including drinks, tax, and tip. Seriously, 32oz Amber Bock draft is only 6dollars (2021 price). Neutral: (Sorry, there's just nothing "negative" about Shorty's.) 1. Chicken -Due to that purist naturementioned earlier, the chicken is somewhat boring. It's still good and moist but there are much better things on the menu. Likepork steak. 2. Brisket - It's not bad, in fact it's one of the best briskets I've had in the South. It's just not nearly asgood as Texas brisket. Good, but if you want the best you'll have to go to Austin, Texas.
