Taste like Mama's home home cooking, seriously! My sister and I ordered the beef tips and rice plate (fire!), catfish plate... (fire! Although I didn't care for the tartar sauce but lil sis liked it), smothered pork chop plate (fire), Meatloaf plate(fire). The one thing neiter of us liked was the banana Pudding, it tasted like vanilla box Pudding and wafers - not muchflavor. Oh and everything is FRESH! Chef said nothing is canned and that she was in the back picking greens. I believe her andcould taste the goodness. The meals were seasoned and not salty. However, we also tried almost all the sides (fire!). We aredefinitely going back. It was worth the drive. Found this listed on Visit Mesquite site and was curious. Their hours of operations info conflict with what is stated on their... website vs Google. This was my first time trying it out. The establishment is nice on the inside and looked very clean. Thestaff was very friendly. Unfortunately, by the time I ordered (about 7:00pm) I was told pretty much everything I wanted was notavailable (even my secondary choices) but wanted to give them a try. Ended up with the 4pc fried catfish with fries and greensand the meatloaf with greens, cabbage, and cornbread and a strawberry pound cake. My husband said the catfish was seasoned okay(it was a little on the salty side for me) but had a good crunch. I didn't like the taste of the tomato sauce on the meatloafand it was a different flavor than what I've had at other places (but was limited in choices) however the meat loaf was not dry.The greens were decent but the cabbage was also a different flavor which others may like. The cornbread was moist but dry at thesame time (where you needed a sip afterwards). Big, clean restaurant with delicious food and personable service. It felt like eating at a favorite auntie's house. The portions... were worth the price. The jerk oxtails were EVERYTHING. Me and my daughter went out on a search for some comfort food in mesquite. I was heart broken when things on the menu was Sunday... only. Me and my daughter decided ok we will come back tomorrow (Sunday) and decided to grab a banana pudding so I can at leastget that. Imagine my heart break when I open it and it?s cookies on the bottom chopped up bananas and hot store bought puddingon top!! Nothing comforting about that. Guess we will keep looking! P.S it?s a nice young lady who was new took my order and shedidn?t know things on the menu was Sunday only. The lady I?m assuming is the owner comes from the kitchen and gave her a publiclashing about paying attention when what I ordered never even said Sunday only. Hello, A week ago today, I Ordered smothered pork chops with Mac & cheese & greens/ chicken fried chicken with dressing &... Mac. Plus a catfish basket. Of course something sweet (banana pudding) Everything was very tasty & fresh. The portion wasplentiful . The price was right! I'm going back today to place another order & to pay for my food from last week. I didn'thave my debit card & they don't take checks. I was overwhelmed with gratitude that Latrece insisted that I take the food . Ofcourse I did. This is the first time in my life that a food establishment has gone over & above their call of duty . Cornbread dressing was very extra dry big hunks of corn bread in it. No seasoning, very tasteless & flavorless! Turkey wing was... under cook, dry & turf. Beef tip was tender and flavorful. Greens was a little salty. Corn bread has sweated to foil paper.Chicken fried chicken was tasteless, it had no seasoning was stringie and tuff. Mac & cheese was old. Soupy mash potato & theyams where a lil over cooked, but good flavor. I'm done with y'all. We stood there 12 mins waiting for someone to come take ourorder. Then another 40mins waiting on the orders.
