We love this spot and the family that runs it. Great sushi, delicious rolls, and super friendly service. It's definitely our go... to sushi restaurant. Not huge inside, so sometimes there is a little wait, but they are very accommodating and we have neverwaited more than 15 minutes. I like the rolls (what the heck roll, Vegas roll, and they have a spicy az roll I can't rememberthe name of right now). My boyfriend likes the sashimi (yellowtail, red snapper, and anything fresh). I recently moved back to the US after living in Japan for a few years. This is the best sushi I?ve found in Mesa/Phoenix so far.... It?s still a lot of American style rolls, but the flavors are so nicely paired and the rolls aren?t over sauced or too sweet.The fish itself always seems to be quality and tastes good (never fishy). House- Modern Sushi was a nice find and close to work. The restaurant is small with a nice seating area. The staff was very... friendly. I got the Shrimp Tempura Roll and the Chicken Teriyaki. Both were nicely prepared, fresh and great taste. Read more
