I was excited for this place and ended up being disappointed. My chicken was minuscule and overcooked. The heat and flavor were... there but overall not a great first impression. We all have bad days so I?ll definitely try it again. Everything going out whileI waited looked a lot better. Update: I tried it again and I just can?t recommend it. When my friend told me about this place, I was there the next day. Good service, friendly and great food. I had the 3 piece... plate with Coleslaw and Bake Beans. Yes this is one of best Fry Chicken I had here in Arizona. The owner came to our table andask how was everything, I like that, they are interested on your opinion. The chicken was juicy and perfectly fried. The skin not overly crispy. Just a bit of heat. Potato salad was creamy. Not a... mustard potato salad but slightly sweet. Baked beans were quite good. The two-piece plate with two sides of of $10. Avery gooddeal in my book. Read more
The experience here was kinda everywhere. The look of this place is so homey and inviting. You get to seat yourself and all the... chairs look different like you are in someones kitchen. My party go the fried green tomatoes($6.75), fried okra($6.50) and two 3piece wing plates(each around $12). The greens and the mac and cheese cost extra to upgrade. Now let's get into the food. Thechicken has a kick. If we compare it to the Popeyes spicy chicken this is spicier. Keep in mind they have no non spicy optiononly the chicken fingers. Although the spicy it is very crispy, tender and juicy. Now like other reviews have said the mach andcheese is very under whelming. It was too salty but unseasoned at the same time. The greens where also too salty. The okra andthe tomatoes were the best part of the meal. If I were to come back I would only get the okra and the tomatoes. Defiantly try itfor yourself! Read more
Wow! I am normally not a fan of fried chicken but this place hit it out of the park. The texture, the softness and crispiness,... everything was perfect. The mac & cheese, potato salad was also delicious. The place is located in downtown Mesa. You haveto find parking on the side on the street but not difficult to find a spot. Truly world famous! We have been looking for a good fried chicken place since we moved to Arizona. Well today we found it at Gus?s Worlds Famous... Fried Chicken! We started with the fried green tomatoes, which were delicious. Then the fried chicken arrived; oh my goodness;this is the best fried chicken I?ve ever had! So crispy and juicy! And I mean crispy chicken!!!!! The sides were just as good,coleslaw, beans, greens. Then my hubby ordered pecan pie. Now I?m not a fan of pecan pie but this was really good pie! And ourwaiter was awesome (wish I remembered his name). He made the whole dining experience so much fun! His enthusiasm was contagious! We will definitely be coming back to Gus?s!! Read more
Super happy with my first Gus?s experience - service was fantastic, the space is really nice and the food was excellent. I had... the tenders and they were really delicious - I appreciated that the breading was minimal and the ranch dressing was so good too.I was expecting a little more taste from the Mac n cheese but still no complaints, I would definitely order it again. Delicious, comfort food,finger licking good the chicken is delicious fries delicious and the fried okra was so good I would... good back just for the okra. The chicken was perfectly cooked golden brown. I?m definitely going back as much as I can, and Irecommend anyone who is hungry to come to Gus?s World famous fried chicken.
