Reviews for Yum Cha Palace in Menlo Park, CA
Pretty reasonable dim sum, which had always been a more lacking food genre in the region for some reason .
Yum Cha Palace is a great place for dim sum for lunch and a great place for dinner before your concert at The Guild Theater.... There is a fancy bar with lots of seats and a large dining area with plenty of tables. Service is always courteous, kind andfast. Dim sum is delicious and don?t forget to try the egg tarts. The crust is super flaky and buttery. The hai gow shrimp ballshas whole shrimps in it not shrimp with a lot of filler. Chinese chicken salad is always a hit! Everything there is fresh andfantastic. Walking distance to the Menlo Park Caltrain station and lots of parking in the back public lots. Enjoy ???? Read more
Conveniently located in downtown Menlo Park, just off Santa Cruz Avenue. Main entrance faces El Camino but parking is out back... and there's an entrance from there too. Been many times for both dimsum and dinner. I recommend the Hong Kong style crispynoodles?????, and the "Donut Rice Crepe Roll" (???. The veggies are good too. Waitstaff speak English, Mandarin and Cantonese(so it's nice to be able to practice ????) Read more
No wait on a Sunday. Good size parking lot in the back with another larger one across from their parking lot. The food came out... quickly. Everything was good. I was surprised by how much I liked their radish cake. Taro buns were a good ratio. My onlydislike was the jellyfish (texture was good, taste was subpar) Read more
Covers the usual dishes well and the wait is usually minimal. Keep in mind though it is more expensive and you generally get... less items in each dish Read more
Good place to go for lunch. Their shrimp dumpling, chicken & mushroom bun and vegetable dumplings are few we tried and really... loved it. Read more
It?s really, surprisingly, hard to find good dim sum in the Penninsula. Is Yum Cha Palace that place you?re looking for? Sorta.... Not really. Depends. Positives: great seating, attentive staff, surprisingly great fried turnip cake Negatives: shrimpdumplings, liu sa bao, no mai gai were meh. In short, I?d come back here for the fried turnip cake. They have a unique way ofmaking them - they?re cut into smaller cubes then pan fried with some chili and garlic, and it was actually how I want all of myfried turnip cake to be made now. Everything else? Just okay. The shrimp dumpling wrapper was too thick. The liu sa bao (baoswith egg filling) was too doughy, and the no mai gai (sticky rice) was really soft and mushy. Read more
Awesome food. Great service. The dim sum was brilliant and the noodles were fantastic. The desserts were also quite good. Also... quite value for money. Apart from the popular chefs choices on the dim sum I'd recommend the noodles and the roasted duck. Read more
