One of my favorite places! Hookah is great! Food is always fresh and hot! Drinks are top tier! Servers are friendly and try to... get your items to you as fast as they can. If I could give this place a zero, I would. We had an awful experience. The wait was over an hour. The drinks came out 30... minutes after ordering them. We only received 2/3 drinks ordered. We all ordered the “premium” alcohol up charge and therewas no way there was alcohol in any of the drinks. The 3rd drink came after the second appetizer. The first appetizer,mozzarella sticks, came out cold. The third appetizer came out after our entrees. All ordered at the same time! The shrimpkebabs were OVER COOKED AND HARD and served over a mound of green beens and two slices of pineapple. The jerk chicken was justseasoned chicken with no jerk spice and also came over a mound of green beans and two slices of pineapples. Today I visited the Genre for brunch & was pretty impressed. I first tried the reggae mimosa. Sooo not really sure what it... consist of outside of champagne it’s like a secret elixir but it was so delicious! It was me and a few friends so I actuallyhad an opportunity to try so 3 different dishes! Everything was phenomenal. First … the lamb chops and eggs. Divine. A twistfrom the normal traditional lamb chop sauce of mint jelly which I personally don’t care for. They had a sprinkle of Parmesanshred & they were incredible. They were tender, soft, juicy, grilled just right. Can’t wait to experience it again. Thecatfish and grits…. Perfect. Catfish was fried to perfection. Flavor was amazing. The grits didn’t taste like regular grits,they were so soft and silky almost as if they weren’t grits. I was disappointed I didn’t order grits lol. Last but notleast, the fish and chips were lovely. The atmosphere is small and quaint, a lot of memphis flavor and decor inside. They alsooffer hookah. Overall can’t wait to visit them on taco Tuesday. We also had breakfast shots .. they were good they weremissing the butterscotch schnapps to give it the syrup for waffles taste for a breakfast shot but overall definitely rating it10/10 Read more
The scene was low key and a real vibe. Very small building which is perfect for a girls night out. The food was cooked to order... and was pretty good. The drinks wasn’t strong at all and I made sure to let them know. It’s Black owned and they make sureto tend to everyone. I’ll definitely be back! Read more

I went for my sister's birthday and I'm so glad she picked this spot. I'm so picking when choosing somewhere to go in Memphis.... The vibe was chilled, the music was good, the food was delicious!!! I ate off everyone's plate and everything was amazing!!! Myfish nuggets were so good!!! Shout out to the cook!!! I will most likely go back for a girl's night or date night with myhusband. Read more
2nd time at the Genre & both times were a complete disaster. The first time we began to order the waitress came with a napkin of... items they had at the moment. The second time I visited the lady told me I couldn’t order my food in a way that I saw itdisplayed. The same waitress as the first time. She didn’t bring napkins, silverware or syrup and was sitting directly acrossfrom us at the bar eating her own meal. The only thing about this place I enjoyed is the fact they have nice music and the foodtastes good. GET IT TOGETHER FOR FUTURE CUSTOMERS, because I won’t be back. Read more
