Albeit aesthetically dated, still tons of potential to be had. I’ll begin by saying the food was great. The taste was in line... with what would be expected from a 4 star restaurant, but from there, it left much to be desired. There wasn’t reallyanything wrong, buuuutttt: the location was fine, but in order to dine there you needed to get really lucky or pay for parkingacross the street in the garage. Not the end of the world, and if you’re going for the impression route, then it’s fine. Novalet offered, so it’s a do it yourself deal, so if they’re a 10 and you’re aiming to impress, save this place forlater. The building itself has some character as it’s older, set in the historical portion of downtown Memphis, but theinterior is in need of a major facelift to bring it more up to date with a new look and feel that would really wowcustomers. Bringing in some new art, a change of music piped in (today was 90s pop ????), and a slight feel of industrial poshwould really set this place apart. I’d still go again, but some touch ups and more variety would go a long way. Read more
Small and intimate but still well lit enough for a business dinner. They have light music playing 90s indi pop which was nice. ... Staff are well put together. Bathrooms are always a reflection of an establishments cleanliness and this steakhouse had a cleanbathroom. The drinks were top shelf amd well priced. The drinks were made perfectly and very yummy. Didn’t have reservations so they sat us at the bar—very close to another couple when the whole bar was empty. Poor seating... etiquette. But that’s my only complaint. Everything else was awesome. Staff was very nice. Our bartender James was awesome! Herecommended great drinks and was efficient. Food was perfect. My wife contacted the restaurant regarding our giving my sister a gift for her birthday of dinner at her favorite restaurant... Mesquite Chop House. From start to finish Mark the manager was professional and helpful. My sister had to change herreservation time due to inclement weather this did not deter Mark. My sister and brother in law enjoyed a wonderful meal. I wasvery impressed with service and attention to detail. Contrary to current outlook there are people that still enjoy the personalmodel in life transactions. Kudos to Mesquite Chop House for having staff that interact with the customer was relieved that thiswasn't referred to the website but handled personally by the manager who had listened to our request to the letter. Waiter was great. Nice quiet atmosphere. My husband and I shared the pork chops, green beans,, garlic mashed, and house salad.... They were all so tasty and perfectly prepared. Best pork shop we've ever had. We also tried the calamari, which wasn't good atall, we are from RI....so we have high standards when it comes to that.
