Frigates always has really good food. They also have a Sunday brunch buffet with a huuuge spread from 9AM to 1PM, you have to... try it once! This time I went in for a Tuesday lunch and tried the spicy Thai chili wings and the Blackened Mac and Cheese. Thewings were phenomenal. The Max and Cheese was good, very creamy - it was also baked with sun dried tomatoes, spinach and trufflebread crumbs so those were a nice touch! Our experience here was sub par. Granted a storm came through and caused sort of a scramble as the staff to repeat many parties.... Our waitress was all over the place the whole time. Very inefficient as she would make multiple trips to the same area where shecould have had what she needed for all tables. The appetizers were pretty good. My wife's Cesar salad was super bland it justtasted like chewing on leaves. The lobster bisque was tasty but no real chunks just sort of gritty. Old fashioned I got wasawful. My grouper sandwich came out with totally soggy buns I had to get replaced. And the sandwich and fries were justincredibly bland there was almost no flavor. I had the same meal a week or two before and it was a totally different experience.I would like to chalk it up as a bad day but it just missed on so many aspects. My family wanted to try some place new and we have been thinking about Frigates. We went early dinner so seating was easy with... zero waiting. We the had two appetizers the smoked fish and the conch both were delicious. We thought that the conch dipped inthe fish dip was way better than the provided dip that came with the conch.The conch was crispy and soft on the inside????????. Meals that we had was shrimp scampi, sea food with some kids of noodles, the lamb chops, fish with rice and a fishsandwich with fries. Presentation was ????????????????. Eye catching and well plated. I had the scampi therefore I can commentin more detail than the other entrees. First the shrimp ???? were large, perfectly cooked and delicious with lots of garlic????. I like a bit of spicy in my meals not to put my tongue or my exit in torture mode just enough and for me it had no spicy????. I also realize that not everyone like spicy so I will not demerit the chef for the great job. Other comments: The lambchops were great all was good The fish sandwich was well done Seafood was good and the scallops were very good. Conclusion - Ienjoyed dinner the food was very good the ambiance was nice, bathrooms were clean, service was good. Price was probably a bit onthe upper side but not ridiculous. I am normally a generous tipper and I dislike when a restaurant automatically add 20% to thebill without asking if the service was good, I believe that the customer should be the initial decider of the tip, not therestaurant. Beautiful location, good food & friendly staff. Prepare to be patient as the staff is stretched thin when really busy. I had the... blackened chicken with brie with red sangria and both were delicious! The button below says we got delivery but we dine in (itwon?t let me change it). Boats can pull up and dock here, as well, which is nice. Valet parking is available but I self parked.It?s a great meeting spot for a celebration meal! Read more

Tasty food and friendly service. Nice, relaxed but semi upscale feel. Beautiful patio and sunset views on the river. Get there... early. There was already a 2 hour wait at 6pm, and they don?t take reservations for parties under 8. The only option is valetparking. All the food was good, but in order of favorites to least favorite, my ranking is: Grouper, jambalaya bowl, pargofrito, yellow snapper, and the Mediterranean bowl. Upon arriving with a party of 5 we were greeted and taken pretty quickly to our table The stairs led down to the lower patio and... what a stunning walk it was! The water had the colors of the setting sun and the trees lit up with fairy lights. A magicalsight! Our party ordered our drinks. We had wine, sangria and mixed drinks. All were great! I did have to request a wine glasswith a stem as it was served in a stemless for my red. Personal preference I suppose I order the Brie fried chicken sandwich!What a delicious meal it was! Crispy fries. Yum! My friends orders looks equally good! Though the steak on my friends plate wastoo charred and the risotto was so undercooked it had to be sent back. My only complain is there are open til 10? but at 9:30all the light were just SHUT OFF while we sat there finishing our drinks. A very rude way to ask people to leave when you claimto still be open. The outdoor space here is huge and you get a beautiful view of the water from pretty much any seat. The food is very good and... nice portions - we had the fish tacos, spicy tuna roll and the spicy tuna bowl. Service was very slow, and took about 15minutes for anyone to come over and take drink orders after we had been seated; we had to ask our waiter for drink refills aswell.
