Reviews for Pikaichi in Medford, MA

Pretty disappointed. Start with the food quality. The broth was pretty flavorful but lacked the rich creaminess I typically... expect. The noodles were ok. There was no egg at all which is what pushed it down to two stars. The pork was a bit thin for meand not as melt in your mouth as the best places have. The quantity: small. Surprisingly small. They give you a small containerof broth and it isn?t even 2/3rds full, just over half. Maybe it is bigger if you order in. The people being friendly and therestaurant being clean is the only thing that keeps this above 1 star for me. I was hoping to get here for a few years and theone time I stopped in the wait was super long but what I had seen it seemed good. I really wanted this to be a go to spot. Read more

I disagree with @Joewa P21st two star review of Pikaichi from two weeks ago. Pikaichi?s miso is not cheap, the noodles are not... Chinese yellow alkaline ones, and the char-shu is not from frozen. The egg may not be a true onsen egg but Pikaichi?s menu madeno pretense of that. I find @Joewa P21st sweeping statements to be unnecessarily harsh and for no valid reasons.#defendyourlocalbiz #defendgoodramen Read more

First time coming here since they moved from the Super 88 location in Allston. I must say the experience was not as great as I... anticipated. Perhaps my standards were too high and it fell short. We used to go at least once a month at the other location andloved it. This time it was just ?ok?. The noodles are still as good as I remembered. The broth and ?Cha Siu? is a bit lacking. We even tried the new Yuzu but it just didn?t have the rich and robust flavors from before. Still a bargain and hard to beat forthe price. Read more

Not sure why the rating is so high for this ramen shop. The owners seems to be Japanese however, the ramen is definitely not... what I expected. If you?re expecting a Tonkotsu ramen, you?ll be disappointed. Their broth is not thick at all and the portionis small even though the price is relatively ok. I am not sure what kind of ramen this is as I have never had this type of ramenbefore. The meat included 3 small pieces of pork belly. Read more

Unrivaled Ramen spot in the greater Boston area. A very small but lively location with a friendly staff! They greet you upon... arrival and it makes you feel so welcomed. Spicy Miso with the whole egg and extra veggie oil is the way to go! Grabbed myselfa delicious plum soda as well to compliment the ramen. The menu is small with great options. The interior is minimalistic buteffective. The kitchen is front and center so you see the ramen being made fresh! Went with my boys and we all agreed this spotis Top 5. Highly recommend! We will return ???? Read more

This ramen shop was phenomenal! Definitely on MA?s top 3 best ramen that I?ve tried so far. First, the name of the shop is dope!... It?s like Pikachu! Similar sounding names so it?s a catchy name. One thing for sure is this place gets good traffic; so wewaited for a bit before being sat down to eat. How they greet the customers is amazing, like you?re actually walking into aJapanese ramen shop. So once we sat down, the atmosphere was nice, with nice mellow music playing in the backgrounds. They havethe walls decorated with paper mache swans in various colours and patterns which was photo worthy. Then me and my buddies allordered their special sodas which are packed with sugar but have a great taste. Finally we got spicy miso soup with pork! Thebroth was tasteful and the spicy ness isn?t too bad but for those like me who cannot handle spicy spicy, it made me sweat but Icontinued to slurp it down until done. It was good with a nice punch. I added eggs to it, and the egg was placed well and notcooked all the way. Just right where the yolk wasn?t boiled through. And the noodles seemed authentic like they were made there.Every thing was fresh and I know imma go back for more of this ramen soup and to try various other ones! Read more

Came here for the first time with a group of friends. It's a small place and there was a wait of about 25min but it was worth... it! We got the Pika Miso Ramen and the Spicy Miso Ramen. We added a boiled egg to the original serving. Broths were flavorful, not too thick, or watered down. The noodles tasted fresh, had amazing texture and consistency. The serving sizes seemed to bejust right, you don't feel overly full. The staff is super friendly!! The restaurant offers a small menu of ramen ????. Hopingto come here again and try their other options. Read more
