I ordered a combo plate with BBQ and broasted chicken. My sides were slaw and fried okra. The slaw was delicious and the okra... was hot and crispy. Try it dipped in ranch dressing! The BBQ is great and the chicken was nice and juicy. Read more

I'm in town for business and thought "Hey man, when in NC, you have to try the BBQ". I should have known when I walked in and... didn't smell smoke that there was a problem. Then when I asked if they had Brisket, they said no. So I ordered a rib plate withslaw and green beans. Food came out quickly so that was good. I was a little nervous when I tasted the BBQ sauce on the tablebecause it was so full of vinegar flavor that my face puckered. And I have to say, I actually like vinegar based sauce. Theribs were dry but covered in sauce. There was NO smoke to them. I think they were oven baked. The slaw was not good. I atemore of my green beans and hush puppies than anything. I threw away more than half of my $22 order. My buddy got friedflounder that was under cooked and slimy and still had the skin on. He threw away most of his food too. I have to say this wasthe worst BBQ I have ever had. I'm a backyard pitmaster from Texas so I know what this should taste like. I think I would havebeen happier with sloppy joe for lunch. I hate to leave a bad review, but this was truly terrible and I will not be going backthere. Should have turned around when they said no brisket. Good luck. Read more

I've been going Hursey's for 15 years. Never had fried chicken so tough and overcooked. Couldn't eat half the chicken breast... because it was so TOUGH. A real disappointment! My wife's first visit and she does not care to come again...rather go toSmithfield BBQ across the street. Read more

Food was ok, the added sugar in hush puppies & Cole slaw is not for me. The BBQ sauce provided was not tasting like bbq sauce,... it was just a pinch spicy with taste of something sour like lime. However, the fries were good. Difficult was getting pricesonline. So I have added pictures. Read more

I love the calabash shrimp plate, my husband loves the BBQ plate. We usually share or split so we both get a little of each. The... last visit was a little expensive. 2 children's plates and 2 adult plates with 4 drinks was over $50. But it's well worth itevery once in a while for us. And we like the fact they actually have a drive thru that functions at a normal pace. Read more

I got the "broasted" (which apparently means pressure-fried) chicken sandwich and a small (8oz) Brunswick stew, plus a chocolate... chip cookie for a total of just over $10 after tax. The food came out with no tray or plate, just a wrapped sandwich andStyrofoam cup of soup with plastic spoon (I bought the cookie afterwards). I would describe every item as okay to decent. Thechicken was decently cooked, but not crispy and didn't have much breading. It was under-seasoned, and even after smothering itin their mediocre BBQ sauce I found it lacking flavor (and the sandwich could have used more mayo). The Brunswick stew hadplenty of meat, and tasted decent. The cookie was decent. Service was friendly but not enthusiastic. Overall and based on otherrecent reviews, I am not inspired to go back.
