Casa Palenque has been a favorite for many many years. It was a fun happy place the service and food were always delicious!... After it closed I was broken hearted. When it reopened I was so happy!! Yet, extremely disappointed to see the look of therestaurant. The decor reflects the image of a company cafeteria. I was just there today - the food remains delicious but thedecor and atmosphere is extremely boring. Please change the decor to reflect our beautiful Mexican heritage. Read more

I went for dinner tonight for the first time and the food and service was absolutely amazing. From the gentleman that sat us... down ?assuming the manager? to our server Mario Alberto who was attentive and the hospitality was extraordinary. He recommendedthe fajitas with shrimp and it was delicious. First timer and will definitely be coming back.and of course a COLD COLD COLDBEER! Very affordable. Not pricy at all. Read more

Had lunch for the first time on a Thursday. It was not too crowded, server was friendly and attentive. They brought out salsa,... chips and beans with chorizo. The beans and chorizo were interesting. I ordered the tacos Callejeros , enchiladas suizas andguacamole. The tacos were more like carne guisada without the sauce. Not impressed. The enchiladas were good. The guacamolewas basically aguacate with onions with peppers on the side. The decor is nice, restrooms are clean. Prices are reasonable. Read more

I took my wife to lunch at Casa Palenque, located on the expressway and McColl in McAllen. There's a tall sign out front so you... can't miss it. After we were seated and placed our drink order,( my usual tea, my wife always drinks coke) we were given a plateof refried beans with shredded, seasoned chicken, tortilla chips, and a plate with three types of salsas, and Pico de Gallo. Thechips were a little overcooked for my wife's taste but I tore them up. She ordered the tampiquena plate that comes with a cut ofskirt steak, (unsliced fajitas to some), a chicken mole enchilada, a crispy beef taco, guacamole, rice and refried beans. Also, both plates came with tortillas so we opted for corn. My wife really liked her meal. I wanted to try something different so Iordered the Patitas en Salsa. ( Pigs feet in tomato sauce). They were cooked super tender, and the sauce had bell peppers andonions in it. Honestly, this sauce reminded me of one of my favorites I make at home. The plate came with a soup cup full ofrefried beans that was a bit too much, especially since we had a plate to start with. Rice would have worked really well withthis sauce, too bad it was left out. Plus the plate did appear a bit empty and the rice would have helped fill the plate andadded to the presentation. I liked how they presented the rice on my wife's plate. My wife loved her plate and I really enjoyedmine. For dessert we shared the chocolate cake with ice cream. The service was on point, the only flaw I saw was the servernever picked up the drink menu from the table, even after several visits to the table. It was not in the way so I didn't mentionit, but in the real world of top notch service it has to be accounted for. This is the first of all the Palenque restaurantsthat I have reviewed that didn't have any real issues. I am going to have to go back again to see if it is indeed the real deal!Only because of the experience I had at the Palenque Grill on my second visit. I do recommen Read more

1st visit to restaurant. Took my mom to lunch. The staff was friendly and attentive. The complimentary beans and chicken were... good along with the four different sauces got the appetite going. I had the Enchiladas suizas and my mom chose the Panchos (seepics). Overall good service, good food and good price. Would recommend. Look forward to next visit. Read more
