The food here is varied, homemade, plentiful, and delicious! I had the crab bisque and it was chock full of crab. This was more... than a bisque, it was like a crabby stew! You won't be sorry for ordering it. The prime rib was perfectly cooked. Thehorseradish sauce was the perfect compliment! I ordered picked beets, but was so full, I didn't touch them. Sometimes, when deciding to eat out, one thinks only of chain type American, Italian or Steak houses. And that can lead to... missing out of some of the great privately owned family restaurants. Well , this place nestled between the towns of Carbondaleand Scranton is one fine gem of an eating establishment. Starting with a prodigious bowl of their absolutely superb Crab Bisqueand ending with a Prime Rib dinner that was served with an unnecessary serrated steak knife when all you needed was their butterknife to trim off a bite sized morsel of this tender meat. I have been going to Alexander's with my family regularly for at least 20 years. We are constantly impressed and never... disappointed. Our orders are always correct, they have a great selection with a huge list of daily specials, and the food isalways high quality. The service is always incredible, and it's nice to see friendly and familiar faces. The family that ownsthe restaurant is very involved in the daily operations, and they are so personable and welcoming to all guests, both old andnew! Melanie is so incredibly sweet! They make you feel like family! It's hard for a restaurant to sustain a good reputation fordecades, but I'd say this is the gold standard. Read more
