Went to Smoky Mountain Brewery for our Anniversary Friday night. We were seated and our server was there immediately. He... explained the beers and drinks. I got Helles Lager which was crisp and hoppy. My girl had a cucumber mojito that was absolutelyfantastic. Such a great flavor profile. Getting that next time for sure. We ordered our food while we had our drinks. I gotThunder Road shrimp and fries. It was outstanding. Lightly breaded shrimp in a sweet and slightly spicy sauce. The fries had aspice mixture on them that was really good as well. My girl got steak and chicken with mac & cheese. She got a incredibly tendermedium rare steak. It was so well cooked and flavorful. The chicken was very fresh and lightly breaded. Prepared perfectly witha really good honey mustard. The mac & cheese was gooey and cheesy. We shared everything and were completely full. I really wentback and fourth about where to go for our anniversary. Wanted a good meal and this place was exactly what we were looking for.May make this a tradition for our anniversary and I highly recommend this place for great drinks and food. I like this place. Good bar food, beer selection, and inviting atmosphere. The wait staff is attentive and very knowledgeable... about the beer selection. Plenty of seating in the bar and restaurant plus outdoor seating. They sell their beer in n growlersas well as 1/2 and full kegs. Picky's Recommendation: staying near the airport? Not what it used to be! Cost of food has increased, while quality has become inconsistent and value has decreased. Entrees... (such as the ale steak skewers) previously came with two side dishes, but now they only come with one - and the cost hasincreased to almost $18 for a 7oz portion! We?ve always loved this place, but with other solid breweries in town now offeringsimilar atmospheres and consistent quality and value (and way better beer), we don?t frequent Smoky Mountain Brewery like weused to. We started off with the pretzel appetizer and some adult beverages. The pretzels were hot and tasty, granted it was five super... type pretzels that you can get at your local supermarket. The dining experience became more elevated when we received our maincourse. The burgers were fresh and cooked perfectly. We can't say enough about the customer service, it was AMAZING. Well, they got good tater tots at least. Maybe my expectations are too high, I don't know, I've been to about a dozen breweries... (HI, MI, IL, AL, WI) and this seemed more like a Cheddars or Applebee's but serve their own beer. The place was clean, hostess &waiter were "Tennessee" nice, lol. I mean we felt like old friends catching up and not like out of towners. But most brewerieshave that particular energy or vibe that this didn't have. I had the vegan burger (I know, I know) and it wasn't as good mostI've had, but my wife had the Thunder Road burger (See menu pic) and she said it was good.
