Reviews for Chiang Rai Thai Kitchen and Bar in Markham, ON
Ambiance: Nice, great for a dinner celebration! Decor: Cute and vibrant Food: great dishes, generous portions, great plating,... very tasty, bit on the expensive side for Thai food, considering the Kennedy Location in Markham is near lots of great cheaperalternatives. Service: it’s ok, they missed one of the items in our order. Recommend: Seasonal Seafood hot pot, famous padThai and pad sew. Make reservations, even on a Tuesday night it was packed and we had to wait for an hour to get a table. Read more
Absolutely love this restaurant. The food is very delicious. The presentation of the food is very colourful and picture worthy.... They have generous portions of meat in all their meals. They have some interesting flavours of Pad Thai with lobster also as anoption for the meat. Highly recommend this place. Read more
The food here looks phenomenal, with a rich use of colours. The flavours are nicely balanced and well seasoned, you can taste... each ingredient that was put in. Spicy dishes are not too spicy as well. The wait here can be a bit for dine in, as we waited30 minutes to be seated. There is also a seating time limit so be mindful in larger groups. Would recommend trying if you’rein general area looking for Thai food Read more
Very yummy uptown Thai food! Very authentic and tasty! The decor is very nice, a bit of street style, seating was comfortable,... service was attentative, very satisfying. Love the soups so much, and the coconut rice with the green curry is a must try! Tomyum pad Thai was very well done as well, I like my noodles not too soft, and they did a spectacular job! Read more
Oh here we go….This is a good one. If you don’t read through the whole review let me sum Chiang Rai up for you: Great... decor, delicious food, incredible presentation. Go there. Now for those who want a more detailed review, let’s dive right in. My parents always come to me for food recommendations and Chiang Rai was on my list of places to review so I thought I wouldbring them along for the journey as it gives me the opportunity to sample a few dishes by sharing with them. First and foremostthe inside of the restaurant was beautiful, the decor was bright and stunning which right off the bat puts you in a good mood. The staff were incredibly friendly which is naturally a huge plus. Just like every other place during covid, the menus weredigital however my mother had forgotten her glasses at home and the staff had no issue giving her a hard copy of the menu (Iknow it’s something minor but we greatly appreciated that). The pricing is exactly what you would expect to pay at a sit-downThai restaurant but the food….the food. We decided to start off with some appetizers, we got the Thai rolls and the fish cakeand both were delicious. I was personally a big fan of the fish cake and the sauce it was served with. Onto the mains, I waspersonally intrigues by the Tom-Yum Pad Thai, we also ordered the Royal Pad Thai and the Basil Stir Fry. I will start with mypersonal favourite; the Royal Pad Thai was DELICIOUS, the egg crepe on top was such a nice touch and adds a whole otherdimension of flavour to the dish. The Tom-Yum pad Thai was an interesting take on a classic and would definitely suggest it ifspice is something you prefer. I personally wasn’t a fan of the Basil Stir Fry HOWEVER I am not a fan of basil in general, myparents are huge fans of basil hence why they ordered it and they absolutely loved it. One other point to touch on is thepresentation of all the dishes, it was top tier. It’s always nice when a restaurant goes the extra mile to make th Read more
Delicious food! We ordered Sweet Potato Fritter, Thai Shrimp Rolls, Pineapple Fried Rice & Famous Pad Thai. I felt the sweet... potato fritter was bit too greasy. Portion was decent size. We really liked the Pad Thai and Pineapple Fried Rice. Service wasquite slow even though it wasn't busy which was bit annoying. Overall a decent place to try Thai food and enjoy. Read more
One of my favourite Thai places in Toronto! Halal meat (when I went) which made it ever better! Dining in is always nice as... their decor is really pretty, customer service is stellar and the food is amazing too! I believe they’re adequately priced asthe portions are really filling and the presentation is gorgeous. The only reason I gave them a 4/5 is because the food, although phenomenal, tastes heavily of MSG. My friends did not notice that during their meals but it’s something that stoodout to me. Does not bother me too much because I’d still go back! Highly recommend this place :) Read more
The food was amazing, I would've give 5 stars but however one hostess ruined the night for all of us. We did not make any... reservations but fortunately we arrive at 1800 there was a table for us, the hostess mentioned about the seating time limits, but we thought sure, it's Monday night anyways we will eat and chat a bit that's all. The waitress is very attentive andrecommended us food on the menu which was amazing by the way. While I was putting the last bite of pad Thai in my mouth, thehostess came and ask us if everything is alright and would we like to split the bill ( I got the *your times is up, get outtahere * kind of vibe... But we didn't think much of it, so we said to her one bill is fine. After we paid the bill we noticed wedidn't order any dessert yet (how can you go to a Thai restaurant and not order mango rice!) we asked the hostess if we can takea look at the menu and order some dessert, and let me quote her "Your time has passed, you don't have time to order dessert" Iwas furious and embarrassed at the same time ( I looked to the door and see no one is waiting for tables and the restaurant havefew empty tables too). We left really unhappy and went elsewhere for desserts. Maybe the owner is the hostess, she don't wantanymore business, I don't know. But what I know is I will never go back to that restaurant again!
