The two of us found this BBQ gem near Merion and we had a very wonderful and filling meal for an extremely fair price. The... service was outstanding... Multiply people stopped walking by our table and asked we needed anything... Not served by only onewaitress.... The pork was great, the sauces are very tasty and the hush puppies yummy. Tons of local people eating here as well.Recommended. Read more

There's a lot to be said for familiarity! It's nice when you walk in and the waitresses recognize you. Countryside BBQ is one of... those places. The wait staff is excellent! They are nice, respectful and always fun. They are a lot of what makes Countrysidesuch a good place to go. Being on a limited diet is difficult in the best of circumstances, but they are always willing to helpthe best they can. The food is good, Southern staples like BBQ, fried chicken, corn, green beans, and hush puppies, just to namea few items from their delicious menu. They cater and offer orders to go. Prices have gone up like everywhere else, but not somuch you can't afford to eat there. Countryside is a good place to go. Read more

Reasonable prices, friendly faces, and quick service. The food was so good that I'm marking this place to return and I'm just... passing through. I loved the pork with the vinegar BBQ sauce. I also had flounder which was tasty. Collard greens aren't a thingyou get much in the Chicago area, but I can't imagine they get much better than here. Read more

UPDATED REVIEW- So if you?re dining in it should be great, but I advise you *NOT* to get takeout. The lady who took our order on... the phone said she couldn?t give us any sauces for the brisket but we could *buy* pints of sauce. You get sauce free inside therestaurant so why isn?t it free on takeout orders? 1) We didn?t need pints of sauce for just the 2 of us. 2) they cost $4 apint! 3) the sauces were cold- as a courtesy and for the price they could?ve at least warmed them up- they were warm diningin. *Also the food wasn?t as good as when we dined in. I?m taking off 2 stars for this nonsense. After a great dine inexperience the takeout order just left a bad taste in our mouths. The food was great and so was the service! Our server (didn?tcatch her name but she?s a retired teacher & very friendly) offered great recommendations on places for us to check out on ourway to Beech Mountain which was helpful. Hubby and I are in town for a few days and our hotel clerk recommended Countryside andwe?re so glad she did. The brisket was so good and the Mac N Cheese was some of the best I?ve ever eaten. Definitely stop in ifyou?re in town. Pictured is hubby?s plate and he was happy with everything he ate. Read more

My brother and I ate there last weekend. I got the country style steak, mashed potatoes, slaw, okra, and collard greens. He got... the BBQ, slaw, fries, and baked beans. I'm glad I didn't get the BBQ because the only sauces they had on the table was a smokyfavored and vinegar based one (I prefer a sweet sauce). I've had better country-style steak but the gravy was good. I loved thehomemade potatoes and the slaw, but the collard greens had a kick to them that I didn't expect or particularly enjoy. My okraneeded to be crispier too. My brother liked everything but the baked beans. We both loved the little hush puppies. He got thedecadent chocolate peanut butter dessert and I got the delicious coconut cream pie (both homemade). We loved the porch with therocking chairs to relax in after a good meal. Great service and a cozy warm atmosphere. If we're ever up that way again, we'llstop back in! Read more

I felt like this was going to be good because when I drove past at lunchtime the parking lot was busy. When we arrived about 5pm... for dinner, the lot was just as busy; good sign. It was awesome and the service was amazing and delivered as a team. I wasserved by 4 or more staff all happy and working together. Everything was delicious. We were just passing thru, but don't missthis place if you are in Marion, NC. Also, they are closed Sunday; that speaks volumes. Read more

Food and service was great! Open on Holidays too. I got their homemade chicken & dumplings which was well-seasoned and light as... air! Hubs got brisket & pulled pork which was bomb! Don't believe me, ask former President Obama! Read more
