Reviews for Mandarin Spice Asian Grill in Marion, IA
Stopped in for lunch today because I was seriously craving Singapore Rice Noodles. The staff that seated us was friendly and... our server came over and took drink orders in a timely manner. She brought the drinks and asked if we were ready to order, which we were. Both my companion and I had been there often enough in the past that we didn't look at the menu. I ordered theSingapore Rice Noodles and the server asked me which meat I would like. I looked back at her kind of puzzled because every timeI have previously ordered, it came with shrimp and chicken (if I recall correctly). She explained that they changed the menu afew months back so I looked at the paper menu a little closer. I notice that the menu price had went up $1. I then notice theline telling me that I could get several meats for $4 each. I about swallowed my tongue. The total for the same noodles that Ihad late last year for $12.95 would now cost me $21.95 if I had gotten both shrimp and chicken that used to be on it bydefault. There is no way that dish is worth that much to me, so I had the steak fried rice (for which I still paid a $4 premiumfor the meat). I do realize that inflation is running at 9+%, however the SRN pricing is 175% of what it was 10 months ago. Last I checked, I could buy at least a half pound of roast, a pound and a half of chicken or a half pound of shrimp for whatthey are trying to charge to add a few ounces of meat. There is such thing as covering increased costs, then there is hosingyour customers. I view this as a case of the latter. Maybe in a few years we will check this place out again but for now, theyhave priced me out of their market. Read more
Tried the Peking Duck last night and it was a delicious surprise. My nine year old son had three bites and at the end I told him... it was duck. He said,"I had no idea it was duck. It tasted amazing." And thank you chef for instructing the server on how toprepare it. Read more
2 stars for the horrible takeout experience. They said it would be ready in 20 mins so I reach the restaurant on time to collect... my meal. They charge me for it and then tell me it's not ready yet and it's gonna take a few minutes. 5 minutes go by, then 10and then 15, the servers there keep saying it'll be a few minutes more. Finally 20 minutes after the estimated prep time Ifinally received the food. The food was good and pretty tasty but the quantity felt quite less for the price. I would suggestanyone to not order takeout food from here. Dine-in experience is better. If you do order takeout, ask them if the food is readybefore paying for it. If not ready then pay when it's ready, that way you can leave if they don't make the food ready in time. Read more
The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. Server was kind and patient with us, especially when I had a difficult time making... a decision on food. He also answered our questions and provided explanations whenever we asked. I had the Snow Roll and EggDrop Soup. The Snow Roll was a bit much for me but still very tasty and satisfying overall. The Egg Drop Soup was fantastic andwill be a definite re-order for me. Overall, if you're looking for a nice place to dine with good food and welcoming staff, I'drecommend here. Read more
We ordered a lot and everything was excellent: red bean sesame balls, general tso chicken w/rice, korean BBQ chicken w/fried... rice, and crazy spicy tuna roll. Everything was served quickly and cooked perfectly. This place has definitely improved over thelast few years. They're always packed Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, there were at least 15 people waiting inside the entranceso we decided to come back when it was less crowded during the middle of the week. That's probably why our food came out sofast. We have not tried to eat there during the weekends yet to see how fast they serve the food when they're crowded. Read more
Nice place. Nice people. Gluten free clearly stated on menu. Many choices for Celiacs. Good Mai Tais to drink. Server was... Hikaru...very good at his job. Thank you Hikaru! I had sesame noodles (gf). Husband had Kung Pao Beef. He said it was thebest he'd had in quite a while. The noodles were a little under seasoned for me..but a little gf tamari sauce and it was verytasty as well. Best dinner we'd had our in a long time. Read more

A friend and I stopped here for lunch. The prices are somewhat high but I would come here again despite that. I loved their... decor and food so much! I ordered these noodles that were so incredibly good! More onions than I cared for but so delicious! Also ordered a plate of fried shrimp in this sauce and it blew my mind. Also gonna level here, I didn't need to rush to thetoilet afterwards. So these guys keep a very clean kitchen. The dishes are around $10+ but you aren't jipped on the portionsize. These guys will take care of you. ???? Read more
