Passing through looking for gluten free options for my gluten intolerant teenager. We ordered a gluten free chicken fettuccine... Alfredo to go. When we opened the to go container they had bread in with the meal!! Wasted money...so disappointed in the glutenfree knowledge. Hungry and upset teenager. Read more

Look, I don't like to dump on small businesses but there comes a point where food can just be offensively bad. Roz should have... known the moment she saw tamales, burgers, and chicken stir fry on the menu. So far, the pizza in this local area has beenoffensively bad and Bennie's is no exception. We ordered sweet teas, toasted ravioli, a garden salad, and a small pizza. We werepleased to hear that the ranch and french dressing was made in-house so we went with the ranch. It was pretty good and theiceberg lettuce and tomatoes mix was fine. The toasted ravioli was clearly the frozen/reheat variety, and was stuffed with aweird meat blend that tasted like Chef B's. I didn't hate it but poor Roz got dog food vibes. The pizza though... It's terrible.Might be the same crust as the terrible Tower Square pizza.... It's just awful. First of all, it's so thin it's more like acracker - and I LIKE thin crust. But it's completely flavorless and has the consistency of cardboard. The sauce I'm pretty sureis canned or out of a bag - and not even a good restaurant quality bag of premade sauce. It's very sweet. The toppings were finebut skimpy. It's just... Look, it's just so low bar on effort it's pretty embarrassing to charge for it in a restaurant setting.Restaurant implies someone made something. Even as far as premade restaurant food goes, this is bottom barrel quality. You canget better stock out of the Sam's Club freezer selection. Honestly, take a pass on this one if at all possible. The Good: Sweetteas The ranch dressing The music selection The Okay: Toasted Ravioli (Roz hated it) The Service The salad mix TheUgly: Everything Else Read more

We have always loved Bennie's especially the salad but the visit today did not meet our expectations. The salad was swimming in... oil. My friend sent hers back telling the waitress she couldn't eat it because it was too oily. I pulled my salad aside andshowed the waitress the oil in the bottom of my bowl. She said well it is vinegar and oil. We are aware of how the dressingshould taste as we had been there many times before. She did not offer to take mine back nor take it off my bill.I did not tasteany vinegar. If it had any it might have cut the oily taste. When you took a bite it left your lips slimy. I will not bereturning any time soon I was less than impressed with the service nor my meal. However, the bread was good. Read more

Bennie's Italian foods in Marion is a quaint and wonderful sit down type of restaurant close to the downtown square. I recently... had a death in the family, and it was decided upon that Bennie's would be the place to have a meal after the funeral service. Icontacted the manager and met with him in person right at the time they were opening. I apologized for the very short notice inwhich I gave the restaurant manager but had asked if they could handle a group of around 30 people on short notice. While I wasspeaking with him, the head chef came out and guaranteed me that not only could he handle it but it would even be best for allin the group to order individually from the menu. A few hours later my group arrived at Bennie's, and got sit down in thebanquet room which they have upstairs. They had two waitresses handle our orders and drink selections. The service wasoutstanding! Exceeded my expectations as we had gave such short notice. Each meal was top-flight and worthy of a big cityrestaurant type of service. Bennie's made a lot of fans that day with the wonderful food and excellent service. I definitelywill be a return customer myself and urge others to give it a try! Read more

Bennie's Italian Food in Marion Illinois is a local delight. Friendly attentive staff, delicious tasty food, and good wine. The... restaurant is spacious and has a beautiful upstairs view. I got the salmon dinner. My daughter got a baked potato. My love gotthe Cannelloni florentine. All was tasty and delicious. Our server gave my daughter 4 quarters to get a toy from the changemachine. She asked before giving it to her as well. I thought it was very nice of her so we tipped her good. 5 stars all day!!???????????????????? Read more
