First time for my husband, and first time for me in over 15 years. It was as fantastic as I remembered. Husband was very... impressed...he loved the fried chicken, and all the country sides like collards, beans, mashed potatoes, fried okra. The saladbar has a nice variety, and is very fresh. Desserts are all good, but the cobbler is amazing!! Everything is keptstocked--salads are nice and cold, hot foods good and hot. The servers are lovely, especially Jackie. They make you feel so athome. The place is not real fancy, but it's clean and very cozy. I heard lots of friendly banter among the guests and staff,so it sounds like a lot of regulars. There is a menu that shows the everyday regular dishes, and then each day of the week hasits own list of items. So now I know when they will have fish (Fridays) or fried chicken livers (Tuesdays). Best southern cooking restaurant around! Food is always fresh and delicious, staff and owners are so lovely to talk to. I've been to a few country buffets. Easily the worst one next to the Green Tomato. No clear signage telling me to seat myself or... wait to be seated. The buffet was a giant mess, I had to crouch down just to see what was even in the dishes. My first plate wassticky like it still had some sort of sauce or gravy on it so I got a new one, no different. The Mac n cheese was burnt. Mashedpotatoes were dry and flavorless so I got back up to get some of the gravy and tasted even worse. Like salty water. The chickenwas decent, not bad. I love to eat at this John Boys. The food is delicious. I am a diabetic and I can find plenty to eat healthy. There is a wide... variety of foods. My favorite is the salad bar. If you love veggies as I do you will be delighted. The service is wonderful. Theservers are very friendly and are eager to help. I have seen the servers help individuals get back to their cars if they havetrouble getting around. We drive from Canton just to eat there at least once a week. Often we eat there twice weekly.
