I had the fried chicken breast plate, and also an order of biscuit & gravy with sausage and egg. The food was good - but not... outstanding. Of course frying chicken involves oil, but somehow other diners manage to prepare it without the end result beingthat greasy. Maybe some folks prefer it that way, so I won?t hold it against them too much. If you prefer your coleslaw extrasopping wet creamy, then you?ll probably like it more than I did. I prefer the dry variety, but again you might actually likeit. But the real disappointment was an 8% charge for ?Paper & Plastic Goods?. I ordered it to go, so it was bagged with napkinsand plastic utensils, but still I can?t recall seeing a similar charge from other diners. I don?t think it?s common. Also, therewas a $1.20 ?Delivery Fee? added to the total. In all fairness, I did eat the food outside on the patio, so they did walk it outthe front door. I don?t recall other places charging extra for patio service, but I?ll leave it up to the reader to judge basedon your own experience. So, all things considered, I rated this 3 stars out of 5. I highly recommend! I came for a little sat morning breakfast. I was blown away by the southern hospitality! The staff was so... attentive and sweet. I didn?t catch the server name but she had cherry earrings (she was so nice). The food was delicious. I hadthe French toast with fried chicken, scrambled eggs with cheese and bacon. The chicken was so juicy and cooked to perfection.Overall a great experience. I will be back for sure! Read more

Great home cooking style of southern food :) Reminds me of recipes my grandma used to make! The staff is super friendly and the... coffee is local and fantastic. The food sits very heavily in your stomach and is a little too salty for me. A little pricey forno table service but I go here whenever I have friends in town. It's always busy and very consistent. OWNER please see footnote. :) Great food at fair prices. I came on an non-busy Friday for lunch at lunch time. I got the fried... chicken blue plate with fries and side salad and cornbread. That, a drink, plus 18% tip was all only $16. The portions were verydecent for lunch - I surely didn?t leave hungry nor finish every bit of food on my plate. You won?t find better for cheapernearby that I?m aware of. There certainly aren?t many options on the menu, but I think it is a fair trade off and the quality isthere. I could tell there was great care in prepping the foods. Nothing was bland, and I liked their creative Smokey flavorwith the white gravy, although I wasn?t too sure of it at first. Their blue cheese dressing definitely didn?t taste ?straightout of the bottle?. It was really good. The staff were very nice and food came within 10 minutes. Although, I do wish I hadbeen checked on at least once and had someone to tell me, ?have a good day? on my way out, but life isn?t always perfect. I?lldefinitely be back! NOTE: I know short-staffing is an issue, but the bathroom could use a little better cleaning and the toiletseat replaced. Floors looked pretty gross, but the toilet and sink were clean?. And I like the scent of your soap :) Read more

Great place for brunch! The food was great and it was at a good price. The specialty pancakes were delicious! We had their Oreo... pancakes and shared them as a table and it was great for everyone to share since it?s basically dessert! Other than that, coffeewas decent and the burrito was great for breakfast. Perfect location right next to the mountain, so you can hike and then eat! Can?t wait to go back and try the other options Read more

Basecamp is located next to a Townhouse community. It seems odd the location but it is the perfect spot. The exterior looks... like a home and it gives a home dining experience. I ordered the Buttermilk Pancake Stack and Stone Ground Grits with Cheese. The food was quiet tasty. The downfall was the grits were not hot and I could not get the syrup to pancake ratio to my liking. I asked for extra syrup twice and was quickly obliged, but the small containers never measured up. I ate outside on the openpatio next to the street and also the entrance and exit is located there. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Read more

I enjoyed my breakfast at Basecamp. Friendly staff, greeted warmly. I was asked how my food was when they were clearing my... table, but no one asked during the meal if I needed anything. Coffee was very good and hot. Had all the sweeteners but onlyhalf and half for creamer. I'm torn with the disposable cup. I appreciate the ability to fill my coffee (you have to get yourown drinks) as much as I want without waiting for staff and to take it with me, but seems like extra waste when a coffee cupwould be more eco-friendly. Atmosphere reminded me of stopping in a local shop while traveling. Clean, people are busy makingsure it looks nice The meal overall was good but there were some issues I got the fried chicken and french toast. The friedchicken was very moist, flavorful with the right amount of seasoning. It could be drained a few seconds more there was a fairamount of excess grease on my plate. The French toast was yummy and huge. I would agree with other reviewers that the syrup isnot good. Not thick at all, mostly tasteless water. The apples come in a Togo ramekin and it makes it hard to eat. They werewarm as well, not hot. Parts of the French toast and the chicken were burnt. So you got inconsistency in the quality Overall Ithink it's a fairly good place to go. If someone was to invite out for breakfast I'd go back. I wouldn't go out of my way tovisit again. A little pricey for non full service $20 for breakfast and coffee. Options are limited as well. Read more
