Reviews for Sagebrush Annie's Restaurant & Winery in Maricopa, CA
The first New Year party ???? in the Big Room.
Came here to camp and wine tasting. I'm a member of Harvest Host Camping and this place offers free camping and wine tasting. I,... my wife and another couple went in my Rv. This place is a little out of the ways but worth every mile. The restaurant is nolonger in operation as the owner's wife has retired. They are after all in their 80's. But Larry opens it up for wine tasting. You have to call him to let him know you'd want some wine tasting. His wine ARE ALL AWARD WINNING WINES. ALL GOLD MEDALS. Theywere all so good we bought 4 cases of different wines. He only have red wines by the way. And that is all good for us. Larry isa very welcoming host. He has stories to tell. Well he's got 87 years worth of stories. He welcomes everyone to camp. Just opendirt space. Lots of space and surrounded by hills and vineyards. We are already planning on coming back. Come visit and try thewines soon before Larry decides to retire. Read more
Had a really good steak dinner years ago while building a power plant in Taft. Sunrise. Very hospitable and accommodating.
Made 2 new friends today! Oh, and had some great wine!
It was truly a great experience to stop and taste here. We didn't have reservations, but thankfully Larry was there expecting... another person. He was kind enough to welcome us and our dogs in and let us do a tasting. There is a great patio supplyingplenty of shade from the hot sun in the valley. Larry was a pleasure to talk to about wine and life as he has a lot to share. The wines are excellent and we had a hard time picking out a couple favorites because they were all good. It is an absolutemust to make reservations and stop here if you are a wine lover. From the street it doesn't look promising, but once you getinside and taste the wine you won't care how the street front looks. Plus there is a beautiful converted barn in the back forevents. Can't wait until next time we go back through. Read more
The service and stories of the owner Larry were awesome. Grounds and back dance hall beautiful never would have guessed from the... outside. Huge outdoor shaded patio for the dogs, and the wine was very very good. Usually open on weekends but best to make areservation first. Read more
On the side of lonely California desert road, across a worn down porch in need of paint, and behind a rickety screen door,... you'll find the proprietors of Sagebrush Annie's. The couple have built a one-of-a-kind shack in a forgotten corner of theworld. It's lonely and quiet in these parts, but I don't think they'd have it any other way. The folks that run the place arefriendly as hell. They were amiable enough to show us around the property. Not that we asked. They just did it. But theywere wise enough to let us be, sitting on their picnic tables by ourselves enjoying the wine and the quiet, open views. Thewine? It's good. Pretty damn good, actually. We tried them all. Twice. Read more
Lovely tasting experience, definitely unique to Cuyama. Larry, proprietor and winemaker, is a gem who will charm you with... stories and area history. The Cabernet Sauvignon is excellent, spending two years in neutral oak barrels and then two to threeyears in bottle. The result of this lengthy again process is unobstructed fruit flavors showing with each vintage. Top notch! Read more
