Helen?s egg rolls are absolutely amazing!!! I mean next level crave worthy!! I tried my first Riverbend egg roll tonight after... years of my husband raving about them!! We were In the Osgoode area and near TheRiverbend, ?Helens Place? as I know it. Royasked do you want some egg roll? I honestly don?t always like them so I hesitantly answered okay. I have now changed my mind!!These egg rolls are amazing!! I mean I have never tasted anything like this before, the crunch, the savoury flavour of theinside! A hole in the wall pub usually serves great food, and this place is no exception. Delicious food. We're definitely coming... back. *Edit* I have returned multiple times and the food was always great, but I don't like the look I get when I don't tip. Infact, last time I was there I'm pretty sure I got a bare minimum of chicken when I ordered the usual (combo 9). Still greatand delicious food, but service needs work and a reminder that a tip is a gratuity, not an expectation. Read more
Thought it was a good place to visit after fishing. I ordered fish and chips. My fish was almost frozen in the middle. There... were too many things on the menu and my partners food was over cooked. (Forget his order). Other than to grab a pop or water forfishing, we will never be going there again. If they fixed up their cooking and menus, we would be happy to try again. Read more
Ordered Chinese food tonight (New Years eve) for delivery. Given it was snowing we ordered early expecting a long delay. ... After 2 hrs we called and were told guy was on his way. 15 mins later we had our food, or so we thought. Order was missing thechicken balls. We called back they said they wouldn't send them out unless there was another order in our area tonight, endedup giving us a credit for them so we are short food for our New Years dinner. Just awful service over the phone bouncing fromperson to person and in the end paid 50$ for crap food that is cold and not very good. Do not order here! Read more
I rather not eat a meal at all than eat from this place again. As a mater of fact, I didn't eat the last two times we ordered... there. First, ordering is complicated as the woman who answers the phone cannot hear and I need to repeat and yell in thephone. The last time we ordered there the soup was so salty I didn't eat it. Dont get me wrong, I like salt as much as the nextguy, but this was inatable. We gave it another try tonight and my beef in black bean sauce with flat rice noodles was in a soupof oil, the noodles were in one hard block and the vegetables were totally raw and cold. Ordered chicken balls, rice, ribs, chicken chow mein, etc. for takeout. The chicken balls had very little meat on them, mostly... batter, and didn't taste very fresh. The ribs were OK. The chicken chow mein was OK. The rice was heated up leftovers. The redsauce was watery and weak. Overall the food was not very good, frankly. But it was relatively cheap. I won't eat there again. Ididn't finish my meal. The only thing I actually enjoyed was the egg rolls. Read more
