I hosted the rehearsal dinner and welcome reception at Steenbocks for my July wedding. The lounge was a fantastic space as it's... in a wonderful setting with natural light, and it showed off the beauty of UW-Madison's campus to guests. The food was fantasticand the lounge setting was perfect for guests to socialize before the big day. The staff is easy to work with and the value ofthe space/food is well worth the cost. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to host an event! Read more

Got bored in class today so I walked down the street and saw this nice establishment. I ordered the Grilled Cheese sandwich with... mushrooms with a side of crispy tater tots. The tots were served with a Carbonaro sauce, something I haven't had before. Thewaitress, who was great I might add, assured me it was a homemade sauce with a secret ingredient that no other restaurant had.If I had to guess, I would assume the secret ingredient is the Carbonaro Effect, which is the name of a hidden camera magic TVshow, like the on you are on right now. We hired them to cater a week-long training for my organization. We needed the food to be individually packaged and arrive as... fresh as possible. I worked with Megan and she was fantastic. The food arrived and it was delicious! Everything arrived earlyand was set up. I highly recommend! Read more

The food came out fast and tasted great. The prices are very reasonable. We had the tuna tartar and the blacken salmon burger... with fries on the side and it was fantastic. Heads up, you'll find parking across the street but is a block away since theparking entrance is on the side of the building facing away from the restaurant. Read more

We stopped in during restaurant week to try some of their special offerings. It was $15 for a 3 course lunch and it was perfect... for lunch. I started my meal with their Sweet Pea Panna Cotta. OMG! that was the best panna cotta I've had. The panna cotta wasbalanced nicely with the curry granola and veggies on top. Really nice panna cotta texture and flavor on its own too. Next, Ihad the salmon salad. It was good, but my salmon was a hint overcooked and the salad was not anything special. I feel as thoughI could get this salad at quite a few places in Madison any day of the week. Last, I ordered the Blueberry Chiffon Cake fordessert. This was ok and didn't have a lot of flavor to it, unfortunately. I love blueberry and didn't taste much blueberryflavor. And, it was a bit dry. So, the panna cotta gets 5 stars, the salad gets 3 stars and the chiffon cake a 1 star ratingfrom me. The service was good for our table of 5 and they were able to split our checks for us pretty easily. The location isgreat for those in the area, but may be a bit tricky for those that need to find parking. I love the WID building and therestaurant is clean and nice inside. They have patio seating if you don't mind the traffic noise from Johnson Street. Sidenote: While we were there eating for restaurant week, we were sat at a table that had visibility into the kitchen area throughthe floor to ceiling glass wall. There was an employee in the kitchen that was visibly upset (mad) and was causing a bit of ascene and definitely caught the attention of our table and a few other tables nearby. My table mates had very mixed feelingsabout the incident. I understand that people have bad moments during work and won't pass judgment on this situation, but noteveryone does. Read more

The atmosphere of the place is fantastic. I read the menu, and was intrigued by the risotto. I told the server I was hungry,... and specifically asked if I should get a burger or if the risotto would be enough food. After hearing an endorsement for therisotto, I agreed to it. It tottered on that precarious border of "al dente" and under-done (I got that starchy / gritty finishbeyond the crunchy texture). The truffle oil added a great flavor (if a bit on the oily side). But the food portion was soincredibly meager, I was hungrier after my meal was complete! Further, the cost, as lunches go, was too steep. I can onlyblame myself for agreeing to pay $17 (counting tip) for a paltry serving of underdone rice. . . . (Edit: 10/17/18 I've eatenthere a few other times (mostly because of proximity) and there's no more risotto, and while I stand by my original review, I'vebumped up the 'star' rating and can report that most of their food is at least a 4, and often 5; my main critique (andphilosophy) is that some places charge a premium, so should be judged accordingly) Read more

Superb Restaurant-Week lunch menu (see attached pictures), everything was served just so, and the menu on offer Matt be limited,... but it's all lovely food. Even the burger was properly cooked to medium, without any promoting on our part. Staff is pleasantand professional, and service was prompt, but seemed unhurried, even though the place was close to packed. We'll definitely beback soon! Read more
