It was our first time at Cuco's. Since moving to Madison about a year ago, we have been looking for a great restaurant that had... Mexican food for a while. Many in the area are good. But, this was very familiar to us. It reminded us of a restaurant that wehave missed since moving here. The food was great! Most importantly, the service was fantastic! They were very welcoming andaccommodating. Whatever we needed, it wasn't a problem. Plus, they were very kind too. We have already been telling family aboutit. I have always had good meals at Cuco?s but tonight was exceptional. I lived in Arizona, and my expectations for Mexican food are... high. My enchiladas were quite authentic. Even the rice and beans were just right?flavorful, but not too spicy. A nice dinnercomplimented with a refreshing margarita. What could be better?! I've driven past this place for 5 years on my way home from work and finally decided to stop with my partner for dinner and... margs and I genuinely wish I hadn't waited so long to stop! Great local and authentic Mexican restaurant. Kid's meals were tasty and well proportioned. My wife said the chicken chimichanga... was the best she's ever had. The molcajete was phenomenal - amazing blend of flavors. Everything was very rich and flavorful -no Midwest boring here! The flan is rich and creamy and sweet. FYI, it is the southern-style flan with cream cheese in it. Thekids were thrilled with their fried ice cream. Service was leisurely, but not annoyingly slow. I really love the vibes and music. The staff was very nice. The food is just alright though. I kinda had higher expectation. My... salad was good but I found one strand of hair in it. Lost my appetite right then. ???? Burrito needs a bit more spiciness, in myopinion. The sauce tasted just like spaghetti sauce. And the meat was a bit too salty. This was some of the worst Mexican food we've ever had. Streak tacos had no flavor whatsoever - did they forget the seasoning? ... Even a bland palate child thought they were bad. Beans looked like they came directly from a can, and the rice - maybe someorange food coloring was added to white rice? Tortilla chips tasted not only stale, but rancid. Two stars only because theservers were hustling and kind for a carryout order, considering they were waiting tables too. Took well over an hour for thissingle taco meal, despite the site saying 40 minutes. Maybe because they were shockingly busy? (Other higher rates Mexicanrestaurants were closed this Sunday night.) If I could give this 0 stars, I would. This was the worst atmosphere AND manager at any restaurant that I have ever been to! The... music was very loud and there were other families in there with little ones. There was a light flashing in my eyes that was veryannoying. Our waitress was fine and the first bite was good, but I told her that it was wrong and that I probably would not bereturning. The manager did not ask if she could fix it and was quite rude. She just took my plate and said that I didn't have topay for it and dumped it in the trash! I didn't say that I wasn't going to eat it, but we waited for about an hour and a halfand we were hungry!!! My family and I decided to take a drive too Madison today. My husband stated let?s eat some Mexican food. We are not from here... so I googled Mexican food and this place popped up.
