Reviews for Cafe la Bellitalia in Madison, WI
This was one of our favorite little restaurants thirteen years ago. We moved to Chicago and now we are back. Not much has... changed, in a good way, still a little cozy atmosphere. Our meal took over an hour, which wouldn't be so bad except tables thatwe seated after us were getting their food before us. The food was good, but maybe the Chicago food scene has spoiled us,because not quite as good as we remembered. With that said, I'm sure we will be back. Read more
The pizza is just not the same. Pre pandemic this was our fave pizza. Handmade crust with just the right balance of chew and... crispiness. Zesty sauce. And a thick layer of quality cheese that when pulled would stretch from one side of the table to theother. What we got today tasted like it was straight out of the Little Caesar’s kitchen. What a bummer! Not sure where we canfind that style of pizza pie again, but it’s not here. Read more
Delicious food! Portions are big but not too big. Great small Italian atmosphere! The service was friendly and helpful. The only... negative was that it took a bit long (50 minutes from the time we sat down) to get food. Thankfully they kept us fully stockedwith bread while we waited! Read more
The place itself is not bad, and the food is good. It's Italian for American standards, my husband really likes it. For Italian... standards it's "American Italian", not Italian. We ordered pizza and it was super late, the guy who delivered it was kinda rude. The pizza itself is very good, so we'll probably try to get is a take out next time. Read more
Amazing food. Service was great. A little long wait times, but definitely worth it.
Good: large portions, geniality of the staff, decent garlic bread. I appreciate that their chicken is cooked correctly —... cooked all the way through, but still moist. Not dry at all, which often happens with chicken in Italian dishes. Not so good:their marinara sauce is way too sweet. I tried adding salt and red pepper flakes, but it didn’t improve it. Unless you likecloying sweet red sauce, would suggest to opt for the cream or oil based sauces. The calamari was overcooked/inedible. May havejust gotten a bad plate. It happens. The server was kind enough to take it off the bill. It was a Friday night, sounderstandably there was a wait. No problem. The staff mentioned the kitchen was behind, and were very communicative which weappreciated. Our server was so friendly and accommodating. If I ever go back, it’ll be for the service, not the food. Cute little place that feels like you are in Italy with the family welcome atmosphere. Excellent tasting food and VERY GENEROUS... servings. Unfortunately like so many places these days...they need more help or a waitress who wants to work. One waitress wasrunning around filling glasses & helping people with food and ours appeared to not want to be there. Met owner in parking lot &she was extremely apologetic. We understand but wish people want to work. She missed receiving a big tip Read more
