Reviews for Red Fish Teriyaki Asian Express in Madison, AL
I'm from Los Angeles and driving to a camp near Huntsville for work as a chef and staying overnight at a motel. Dinner is always... a challenge on the road so I was happy to find a place that made Japanese and Asian cuisine. It's a family business, fast casualstyle with both Japanese and Chinese menu items. They have a pretty big selection and everything is cooked to order so it'sfresh. If you're in the area, passing through or live near here, I highly recommend giving this place a try. A nice gem of aplace and happy to have chosen to get so real food from a quality restaurant. Read more
I?m not gonna lie those were the worst crab rangoons I?ve ever had. It was like a sugar cream pocket thing. I tried to keep a... positive attitude and enjoy my fried rice. The rice wasn?t terrible, but it was super bland and the beef on its own was entirelyflavorless. In a way where if you blindfolded me I wouldn?t be able to tell you what I was eating. It is incredible. I?ve neverexperience food that flavorless. My significant other got General Tso?s Tofu was actually pretty good which gained them a starbut I can?t imagine how this place has 4+ stars. Definitely never getting food there again. Read more
Holy Cow they serve a lot of food! I ordered from them today for the first time. I'm a big overweight guy and I've heard from... co-workers that their portion sizes are big. So, I ordered a SMALL chicken fried rice. I could barely finish it! This isprobably the only restaurant in town where a small will be very filling! Very tasty too! Read more
We've only been to a few Chinese restaurants in Madison. Red Fish is our favorite so far. Today I was in the mood for Chinese... and didn't want to get out of the car so I suggested Red Fish. I ordered a teriyaki chicken (I know not Chinese) bento box andI was so impressed with it! It came with tons of chicken, a decent sized side salad with my favorite kind of Asian dressing, aside of edamame, 4 pieces of CA roll. Look how pretty everything looked and so much food for about $10. I'm all about gettingyour money's worth and I think I got my money's worth. The food wasn't blow my mind good, but it was comforting good. Read more
I looooove any and every kind of dumpling, so when I saw this place had a drive through, I knew I had to have some as a... snack. This restaurant is located in a small shopping mall in Madison. They have a fairly large menu of typical AmericanizedChinese favorites as well as Bento boxes, soups, appetizers, etc. The drive through makes them somewhat unique -- big fan ofthat. I was asked to pull into a parking spot and wait rather than it being handed to me through the window, so I initially wasworried I'd be waiting for a while, but my food came out quickly and it was obvious it was made fresh, considering it was so hotI couldn't even touch it at first, haha. I went basic and just ordered an appetizer of fried dumplings, as it was too late inthe afternoon for any real kind of lunch. They did a great job frying them -- they were super crispy on the outside but tenderon the inside. I'm not sure exactly what the filling consisted of -- it was mostly vegetables, and I think a little bit ofchicken, but I was munching as I drove and didn't take note of too much specifically one way or another. Sadly, the flavorswere all sort of nondescript and nothing really stood out. The dish came with small plastic cups of a soy based dipping sauce, which was also fairly generic, with mild sweet and salty flavors. I'd be careful before driving off, as they were in thestyrofoam box with the dumplings, and it would be devastating to have it spill and get all soggy before you got home. I didn'tdislike these dumplings (I've never met a bad one), but I probably wouldn't order them again. This restaurant is not near myfrequent haunts at all, but I'd consider trying a different dish as they have so many positive reviews. Read more
QuckNDirty: Good food, fast and friendly service, Clean'ish facility, location in multi-unit building, fountain drinks, fresh... tea, fast casual Review: This is located in a multi purpose shopping center in Madison right off Wall Triana. They serveeverything from Bento Boxes to Sushi. Their sushi, everytime I had it, has been fresh and delicious for such a small hole in thewall. Their service has been very friendly and their food has been very delicious compared to a lot of of Chinese restaurantsaround town. Parking can be a little difficult during weekday lunch hour but all other times its okay. Should You go: Mostdefinitely. It is a good place to eat What should I try: If you want to start with something simple, get the the ChickenTeriyaki Bento Box. You'll get Chicken, Rice, Salad, a california roll and some Edamame. Quaint, relaxed atmosphere. Typical Asian cuisine environment without the greasy feel or dim lighting. Suitable enough decor for... even a quick date night on the way to the movies. The staff are overly pleasant and helpful, and the food is delicious. Theprices are fair and the portions are too. Haven't tried the sushi yet but I will update when I return! Red Fish, you've got mybusiness! If you're into egg drop soup (which is my favorite) their small portion, which should really be labeled a large ????,is priced at only $1.55. I have to add a little salt to mine---but it's delicious! Edit---I don't like your egg rolls. I'msorry! It's more of a firm pastry than a crisp/bubbly shell. Other than that, everything tasted amazing! Read more
It was hot and fresh and done quickly. The portions are good sized. I ordered: General Tso's chicken with lo mein. The broccoli... wasn't seasoned at all. The lomein had a good texture and so did the chicken they were just bland. We got hot and sour soup andit's not very good imo. Tastes more like mushrooms than hot & Sour. My daughter loves eggdrop but she didn't like the flavor orthick texture. She wanted more of a liquid not solid texture. She also got a Ki Ki sushi and she did like it. She said 4stars. The egg rolls were bland. Read more
