I?ve eaten BBQ all over the country and this is hands-down some of the best BBQ I?ve had anywhere. That?s including Texas and... North Carolina. So go see Stacy, Nick ,Chuck and Ariana at Mission BBQ. I had the pulled pork and brisket and it was fantastic. The cornbread is outstanding and baked perfectly. Light and fluffy with a hint of sweetness that makes it a perfect match withthe barbecue. The baked beans were excellent not too spicy not too sweet. The coleslaw was fantastic not too creamy not too sweetnot too tart. The fries are not frozen they are fresh cut and cooked on site and cannot be beat. Overall experience is a 10 outof 10 without question. Not to mention the fact that Mission BBQ has a wonderful way of honoring our veterans. You won?t bedisappointed. Last but not least the service is fantastic. I parked my car walked in and ordered and within five minutes had agorgeous plate of barbecue, brisket, baked beans, cornbread, coleslaw and freshly cut and seasoned fries! Nice job!!! Read more

I love BBQ but I don't get it often because it's gotten so expensive, and this place is no different. I think it was $22 for a... two side sandwich combo. However, as soon as I got home and opened my container I knew it was going to be a good meal. Largeportion sizes (had enough brisket to fill a bun and eat a couple slices on their own). The brisket, mac and cheese, and friesall tasted amazing. In fact I think I'm going back for lunch tomorrow because writing this review made me want to get Missionagain. Read more

Loosing Dickies was a heart break for every carnivore traversing Wards Road. Mission BBQ is a more than sufficient... replacement... although I am still kinda bummed we lost the Panera that was once there on the corner. Great staff, reasonableprices, and brisket that is second to none. Highly suggest getting your sauce combination recommendations from the management. The last thing you want is to waste good meat on a bad mix. Much thanks Mission, keep up the good work. Read more

Amazing service, great food (and I'm not a great fan of bbq). I had the chicken, which was tender and not dry. Lots of sauces,.... I liked the kc one. Played the national anthem at noon, and everyone stood... Very moving. It's a bit pricey... But well worthit. Read more

The staff is well trained and friendly. The food is excellent! I love the atmosphere in the restaurant with even the customers... being friendly. The veterans are always there to share stories or you can shake their hand and thank them for their service. Read more

Last Saturday we had an experience at Mission BBQ in Lynchburg that words cannot do justice. My father, who is a WWII vet was... treated like royalty from the moment he stepped into the restaurant until he left. We participated in honoring our countryduring the National Anthem at noon, enjoyed a delicious meal, and touched beyond measure by the way my father and his service toour country was respectfully honored by the staff and others who were there to just enjoy their lunch! Thank you to the stafffor warming the hearts of so many along with serving delicious food for people of all ages! Mission BBQ rocks!!!!! Read more

Best brisket ever, love the fries and quick service. A little pricey but this town needed something different.

ABSOLUTELY ASTONISHING! Don?t listen to the ?local guide? reviews by Scott Grant and Jeffery Smith My Review: - Service was... incredible! Some of the best in town! I was greeted with a smile from the moment I walked in the door till the second I left.Place was also very well kept for the amount of people shuffling through. - Coming from somewhere originally where BBQ wasalmost a religious thing, it?s nice to actually have GOOD bbq in town. Some that even rivals Country Smoak. The smokedjalapeño sausage was some of the best I?ve ever had and the pulled pork sandwich is a must have. The variety of sauce issurprising. The inclusion of the bottled classics impressed me. The size of the sides were good and the portions for meat wereperfect. - Pricing was fairly decent. It?s very similarly priced to country smoak which is understandable. Paying $15 for themeal seemed right for the amount of food I got. Leaving satisfied is a high priority in this business. Correcting Scott Grantand Jeffery Smith: - Scott Grant seemed to lie about a few of things and even forget that sales tax applies to food. The sideswere definitely larger than 4oz. Country Smoak, a local BBQ place serves 4oz sides which are similarly priced to the sides hereat mission, but mission gives a larger portion (see images). I checked the nutritional information which is publicly availableand found that the portions are about 6.5-7oz for sides. This BBQ is also better than most in VA. It?s hard to find good BBQthis far up north. People who are biased towards local shops such as Blue Ridge BBQ such as Jeffery have a hard time separatingtheir judgements of outsider restaurants such as this one. I personally was never impressed by Blue Ridge BBQ and found itmediocre at best. TL:DR: Mission is one of the best BBQ places in town and is only really beaten by that of country smoak. It?sdecently priced with good portions for good prices. An absolute must try and a place I will be visiting here again Read more
