Reviews for Mi Patron Mexican Restaurant in Lynchburg, VA
Excellent take on Mexican. Very spacious, clean and classy.
The service was excellent, with plenty of refills and they kept bringing chips and salsa even when we weren't done with the... first serving. Food was tasty and there was plenty of it. Prices are excellent. Compared to the really overcrowded place intown (where everybody seems to go - as have we, many times), this is an excellent alternative. Close to LU too Read more
Always lovely staff. Food options are amazing, so many options. Friday night is Margarita night, definitely a deal there. A+... would recommend Read more
The food was fairly good, but nothing special. In an almost entirely empty restaurant I was never offered a refill and, thank to... my waiter looking entirely uninterested as I ordered, my food was wrong. Not bad, but as it stands there are better places intown. Read more
This was our first night. We got to restaurant early for dinner. I was soooo disappointed by the service and food. I ordered a... chimmichanga. It was suppose to be fried. The waiter took way to long to come back to let him know and he argues with me aboutfood. Plus the guacamole was bordering dark green. Could not get a refill etc. Read more
This is our 2nd time eating at the Boonsboro Mi Patron, once at old location and tonight at the new one. We had decided after... the first try we said we wouldn?t return But we decided to give the new location to try thinking maybe they had made somechanges. Apparently they have not. PROS: our order was ready in 30 minutes as promised, was hot. The woman was pleasant at thefront desk. The new place looked nice, and clean . CONS: I had to attached photos to accurately explain the issues. The mealwas ok, but lacking flavor. The salsa is tomato sauce. Literally. Now, I adore salsa. Mild or Spicy, flavorful, salsa. I doNOT like plain tomato sauce to dip my chips in. (See photo). This was the same ?recipe? as the first time we ate there and wethought they had obviously run out of their salsa and opened a can of tomato sauce and thought no one would notice. Nope, thatreally IS their ?salsa?.???? So let?s talk Chips. Like salsa, we adore chips, all chips. Well, not all because these werefried, and served. ZERO salt or any seasoning AT ALL. We tossed the bag of chips, and the tomato sauce in the trash. ???? Nowlet?s move to the sopapillas. So the sopapillas we have had at Mexican restaurants are a cross between may be a donut and abeignet, puffed and soft, sometimes covered in a sweet honey glaze, or chocolate drizzle. Heavenly, right? Well, this was ahard, crispy, fried flour tortilla, with a glaze, cinnamon and sugar and chocolate drizzle. (See photo) Completely unlike anysopapilla we?ve ever had in the states, or Mexico. Please google sopapilla. They are fabulous. But if that?s what you?rewanting, you need you pass on these. Take away: Sadly they put a lot of money and energy into the new place, but it is the samefood. We wanted to love it, we try to only support local restaurants, but we won?t be back to Mi Patron. Three stars might seem harsh but I want to be clear that nothing was explicitly bad with our meal. Our server was very attentive... and friendly. Also other members of the staff came by our table to check on us The food was good, but left us wanting a littlemore. The salsa was mostly tomato and could?ve used more onions and cilantro to add some depth to the flavor. Same with thetomatillo sauce. Also, the kids taco (not pictured) seemed to be thrown together and looked sloppy. This was our first visit tothis location so it could?ve been an off day, which happens. Read more
