Reviews for Fratelli Italian Kitchen in Lynchburg, VA
If you are looking for a venue with a classy ambience conveniently located right off the bluff walk in beautiful downtown... Lynchburg, looking no further. A Sunday brunch was a real treat at this highly asceticlly pleasing basement turned Italianeatery. On this fact alone I would give them another go despite the less than snappy service and mediocre food. I figure 2p ona Sunday is not peak performance time for wait staff anywhere and it did look like they where in transition whilst we weredining. All the same, a little disappointed in food quantities for price and just the general lack of flavor from the brunchitems. Again won't stop me from returning to try some of the more traditional Italian cuisine...just hoping the service can upscale to par with the interior and exterior decor. Read more
Finally got a chance to try this place! My husband and I came out for a date night. We were a little confused on where the... entrance was at first, but found the elevator and made our way to the hostess stand. We were seated quickly and our server wasvery attentive! I had the lemoncello blackberry martini and it was delightful! We started with the muscles and mozzarellaarancini appetizers. Both were delicious, however I could have eaten another whole plate of the muscles! My husband got thebolognese pasta and I got the spring risotto. I am glad the waitress offered to bring salt and pepper and it tasted like therewas none in my risotto, the peas and pea tendrils in the dish were perfect. We then finished with a slice of tiramisu that wasso good! I would absolutely come back on another date night or with some friends. A little pricy, but it?s worth it. Read more
A for Atmosphere A for service A for drinks D for food I went a few times when it first opened, and had some pretty great food.... Bolognese is one of my favorite sauces, and when I first had it there it was great! Fast forward to 2022?. My Bolognese camewith melted cheese all over the top as if it was on the salamander for about five minutes, once you broke the crusty seal, whichit shouldn?t have, you found a creamy ground meat sauce with the slightest hint of tomato and way too much uncooked wine. It wasnot Bolognese, and it was completely inedible. I have no idea what was going on in the kitchen tonight, but I can tell you Iwill not be going back. Also the cioppino was criminally offensive. As an Italian American and a native of the San Francisco Bayarea, I am well aware of what cioppino is and should look like and taste like. It is supposed to be a stew, a soup, with abroth. What came to our table was sautéed shellfish with a thick tomato sauce with a ton of oil. It was as strange as the rawwine bolognese with the crusty cheesy top. This place has really gone downhill. Thankfully the atmosphere is gorgeous and theservice is great, so like many of Lynchburg?s restaurants it will probably stay open for a long time. If you?re looking for anactual good meal, go somewhere else. If you would like to have a nice drink or two and look at the beautiful scenery, this isyour place. Read more
My daughter and I ate on the terrace and had the Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. Despite the two poor reviews that we read... prior to our visit. I would strongly disagree with them reviews but everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I could tastethe wood fire grill in the chicken, the noodles were tender and moist. The sauce was flavorful, not too cheesy with a slighthint of heat. The atmosphere was great. The server was attentive but not clingy. A+ Read more
I love the atmosphere and food here!! We got lasagna and bolognese. We got to enjoy the beautiful sunset view when seated... outside. The waitresses were super friendly and nice too. Definitely will come back!! Read more
Meatballs themselves were tasty, marinara sauce was bland. Ordered the Fettuccine Chicken Alfredo. Chicken was tender, but... honestly there was way too much salt on the chicken itself, the sauce was decent, but lacking flavor. They did have the BESTTiramisu I've ever tasted. Great wine and wonderful service. Overall everything was nice and presented well. Everything came outin a timely manner and their artisan bread was tasty. Will definitely be eating here again, next time I'll order the shrimp.Don't skip the Tiramisu, seriously.. Read more
Overall I give it a B. It was an enjoyable experience. Our experience seemed to agree with the other reviews we read before... going. Great vibe, great drinks, great service, really great dessert, but so-so food (which is kind of the most importantpart). Wouldn?t come back for the food, not worth the price/quality. The pizza tasted better than the pasta (I think we got thebeef ragu?). Read more
Atmosphere - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Food - 4/5 Value - 4/5 A sorely needed ?date night? spot in Lynchburg. Best atmosphere in all of... Lynchburg. Intimate lighting, elegant decor, ubiquitous dark wood, comfortable seating, a good drink list.. The complementarybread is really high-quality, served warm and moist and has pronounced hard cheese flavors. In my experience, the food wasprepared very fast. The calamari was breaded well but I wish there was more of the tomato sauce! You can ask for a side ofmarinara for $2. I will admit that there is better pizza in Lynchburg but it is similarly priced and I want to push back on thereviews that say this place is not good value. Further, this is a rare date night spot and you are paying for the entireexperience, which, with some good wine and conversation, is absolutely worth a $40/person bill. Being more expensive than otherplaces in Lynchburg does not at all mean bad value. Read more
