This is located at the old Gorditos location. Visited Tuesday for lunch. Loved the fresh/warm chips, salsa was flavorful... without too much heat. All the combo meals have large portions - we all left food on the plate. Sopapilla were a necessity fordessert - wonderful! Good size sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar - they melt in your mouth. We will definitely be coming backto this restaurant!! Read more

Delicioso! We came in to have a quick bite after a long day and it was perfect! Food came out fast and Mia took great care of... us! The manager was also very helpful when trying to find the best dish for a picky eater like me. We will be back! Read more

Post game dinner. We sat at the bar. Ordered a Mexican martini - the bartender didn?t know how but winged it and it was tasty! I... had the Chubby?s combo because I really wanted a chalupa and you couldn?t get just that. It was a LOT of food! Chalupa, chilirellano and an enchilada, plus rice and beans. All yummy, just couldn?t eat a fraction of it! My companion had the enchiladadinner and loved it - nearly cleaned his plate! Total bill just over $50 for two plates, 2 Mexican martinis and one beer. Willdefinitely return on another trip to Lubbock! Read more

First time here and we came on National Taco Day for lunch and it did not turn out too well. Drove from downtown Lubbock to try... it and got to Chubbys in 10 minutes. Sat pretty quick but only got a drink order in and then waited 20 minutes. Finally got theorder in w/an assistant mgr but the food came to the table with 10 minutes to 1pm. Had to ask for it to go and they comped thetacos for our troubles. Not sure that this action makes up the differences but knowing my wife, she'll never want to come backespecially since she wanted to go to Rosa's. Read more

TL, DR: Mediocre at best. Loud environment, okay food and not great service. We tried eating here before and waited at the... entrance for about 10 minutes and no one even acknowledged us. Becsue we know staffing has been an issue lately, ee decided togo earlier and in a Monday to try again. We were seated immediately and our server was friendly. There 2 of us and we sat atwhat is supposed to be a 4 top (4 chairs) but it would be extremely uncomfortable for 4 adults to sit that close together. Iordered Dr Pepper and she said they were out. We ordered 2 unsweet teas and the Hatch green chili queso. She returned with theteas and offered to answer questions about the menu. I asked about the chili rellenos. I wanted to know if they were eggbattered or cripsy. The server said, 'I know they're fried.' I got the Chubbys Mega Combo #1: Chile relleno Fried flourtaco Enchilada with refried beans instead of charro beans. My boyfriend ordered the chimichanga and asked the white queso be onthe side. We waited what felt like an appropriate amount of time for our food to arrive, but the queso never showed up. I letthe server who delivered our food we ordered it. I let her know and she walked away. Then, our original server stopped by andsaid, 'I just put the order for the queso in.' Um, okay... Two minutes later the second server brought the queso and said, 'Ijust went ahead and brought it to you.' The food was definitely hot when it got to us. The chimichanga did have the sauce(queso) on the side, but it was covered with melted cheese. My boyfriend said it tasted fine but wasn't anything special. Theinterior folds of the chimi weren't fried all the way, so the tortilla wasn't a great texture. I experienced that with myfried flour taco. The ground beef filling was good, but the texture of the tortilla was more rubbery and chewy than light andflaky. The ground beef enchilada with green sauce was good. The chili relleno was egg battered (not what I Read more

Wow ???? My husband & I have been wanting to try this place for some time now. We finally went today and oh my goodness. We have... been missing out! The chips & salsa were fresh & delicious. I ordered shrimp enchiladas, and I have to say these just might bethe best ones I?ve had in town. They weren?t on the menu, and the cook had never made them before! I was stunned to hear that, considering how perfectly they were made. Also shoutout to them for making me something that wasn?t on the menu lol. 10/10fantastic. Food came out quickly, super hot & fresh. Our server was very sweet. I didn?t get her name but she was working theretoday around 3pm. Loved this place & will definitely be back! Read more
