This place is amazing! We asked our hotel where to go and they told us this would satisfy our seafood cravings, and they were... spot on. Oysters were super fresh, the hush puppies and calamari appetizers were flavorful, and the pound of headless shrimp inthe boil were the best thing I have eaten in a while. Get the garlic butter, lemon pepper, and Pier 17 signature with your boil,you will thank me. Larry is a great server and loves what he does and it shows. Very skeptical of seafood when I?m not near the sea. That said this place was exceptional, this is where my family wanted to... meet for dinner on Sunday afternoon. The food was very good, better than a lot of seafood I?ve had in Destin and Gulf Shores.Fried food was fresh and not greasy. As far as staff goes Hazel was very nice and took great care of us. I feel compelled tomention there was a guy behind the back counter when we arrived and I assume he is the manager because he was interacting witheveryone. This guy is exactly what every business should be looking for. His personality was better than any manager I?ve seenin any restaurant before and my mind was completely blown when I saw him stepping up and getting drink orders forwaiters/waitresses when things start getting busy. Team player not a team director, you can tell it?s effective as everyonethere customer and employee alike that I saw was obviously happy to be there which is incredibly rare at this time in history.Great job to you sir please don?t ever let anyone change your attitude! Let me first explain, I am a snow crab fanatic! My husband surprises me on special occasions with a visit to Pier 17. The best... part when eating crab is when you crack open a thick leg, pull out a FULL length chunk of meat, slop it in some butter and popit in your mouth! Every taste bud in your mouth thanks you for the delectable experience! Here, in Louisville/Indiana area, Pier17 is the only place I?ve found where this happens. I?ve been served many crab legs from many places around these parts and wasalways disappointed in the water logged legs that bent when I tried to break them instead of crunching when I broke them open.I?ve spent hours digging crab out one variable piece at a time - rarely pulling out a 1/2 leg length chunk. Its a lot of workwhen you?re digging and digging for meat. Pier 17?s legs taste fresh and never disappoints. I?ve tried the scallops, shrimp andseveral appetizers?even their iced tea is killer! Not to mention LARRY! This waiter never lets your glass get 1/2 empty withouthim filling it up. I served tables and bartended for years and would like a certain basic level of service when I go out.Sometimes ya get it and some times ya don?t. He supersedes my expectations! Gave this place a shot tonight & was very surprised! Lots of choices on the menu to chose from. We got the hushpuppies, gator... tail basket & the headless shrimp boil. All were excellent! The ONLY negative is the hostess needs to not be there. We walkedin and wasn?t greeted at all. She didn?t even say anything?. But the food & waiter was awesome. Will make sure to return! Read more

Sunday 1pm , about 1/4 full. They did not have a hostess but got seated by waiting staff pretty quick. Got fried catfish with... Cole slaw. Catfish was hot, Cole slaw was good , maybe just a little too creamy for some. Definitely will put this on myrotation. Read more

The fried shrimp basket is GREAT! The shrimp boil was GREAT, and fresh! Finally a place that has a great peel and eat shrimp! I... wish though they would use Vidallia Onions and dip them in the same shrimp breading and make their OWN Onion Rings instead offrozen. Service was great and made sure we were taken care of! My family loves this restaurant!!! The management is great. Very personable bald gentleman. Go to order: 1.Signature fish... basket 9/10 it doesn?t come dressed so I can?t give it a 10/10. Huge amount of perfectly deep fried flaky filets. 2. Gator tailsandwich (Very hard to get because it is always SOLD OUT. I hear the shellfish options are amazing but I personally have notordered any. Interior: A lot less cluttered than your normal seafood restaurant, but it still has the traditional hangingobjects. Think a drag net that?s collected sea creatures and you have the decor. Cons: The restroom situation is a disaster. Imean it?s actually scary if you have to go in there it?s so dirty. I have encountered this at various hours. I can?t decide if Ishould blame the staff or the crazy customers. This place is justifiably crowded during the day and night so idk.
