Reviews for OTOTO in Los Angeles, CA
A very lovely and dynamic space + very cool and hospital staff. Obviously here one finds a beautiful selection of sake and other... drinks, presented in a little booklet. At the same time one doesn’t want to miss the food. The tomatoes in the saladimmediately evoked an imagery of the fruit basking in bright summer sunlight, ripening and building up all the flavor. Theshrimp okonomiyaki was beyond expectation too - rich but not heavy so you just want more. And for dessert, it was so refreshingto have the melon, simple, saturated with its natural sweetness. Will come back! Read more
We went there for the fish sandwich which is advertised everywhere on the internet, yet they didn't have it any longer. However,... we tried two other things: the scallion + cheese okonomiyaki - very filling and rich, but tasty, and the chicken katsu sandowhich was the BEST chicken sandwich I ever had - therefore, 5 stars. The food is amazing. You want to order courses to share. Recommend 3 courses per person since the portion sizes are... reasonable. Yellowtail Collar is excellent and a good selection of cold sake. Read more
Went last night with a friend. Ordered 3 what we thought were “dinner dishes” to share (fried shrimps, pancake, and ramen... noodles). Only the fried was brought to us. It was good but it was more like an appetizer because there were only 3 shrimps (for$18). We also ordered sake for $40 (the cheaper one), each of us got a small glass. After an hour we still didn’t see the restof our food orders. So we politely asked a waitress to check, she came back and apologized and said the food is coming. After 15more min of waiting we decided to cancel our order and leave. The bill was brought to us pretty quick. besides the fried shrimpsand sake, There was a $11 “service charge”. Not sure what service they referred to because for over an hour nobody came tocheck on us and we didn’t even get a refill of water! We left with one and a half shrimp and a glass of sake each and our billwas total $80. This restaurant is way too pretentious and a complete rip-off. Will never come back again. Read more
I've been wanting to try out this place for a while and it doesn't disappoint! The okonomiyaki was delicious along with my... favorite drink of the night. It was a spicy umeshu (plum wine) that was first sweet, then tart, and spicy. Usually flavors likethat would clash. But that drink really brought together those flavors in such a delicious way! If the Ippongi is still on themenu, definitely order a glass! Read more
Wow just delicious and amazing. The ebi fry and tomato salad were revelations and perfectly balanced and seasoned, cooked to... perfection. I already ate most of the tomato salad before I got a picture and forgot completely when the shrimp came out becauseit looked and smelled so good. Wonderful. Read more
I've been here twice - once with my sister, and once with a group of 8. Both experiences were excellent! With my sister, we... were seated at the bar and ordered a bunch of small dishes off the menu (the Ebi Fry was a standout), as well as a carafe ofsake to split between the two of us. My boyfriend booked the private room in advance for my birthday on a Sunday night—inorder to reserve it, you need a party of 6 or more. My friends and I split a few dishes: the eggplant skewers, the Ebi Fry(just so good, really), and the okonimiyaki. All were phenomenal. We also split 4-5 carafes of sake between the 8 of us. Service was amazing, the atmosphere was wonderful, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious. One thing to note is thatparking can be pretty rough. Valet was $10, and at the end of the evening we ended up having to wait upwards of 10 minutes toget our keys. Despite that, I can't recommend this spot more and I will definitely be back. Read more
Cute kitty logo, homie environment, wonderful customer service by both waiter and the female owner. If you dig sake, this is the... place to go for sake tasting. Food is fantastic, loved green beans salad, crispy tofu, chicken thigh dish and the fried tomatodish. Read more
