My favorite taco stand (Taco Zone is my favorite taco truck). The machaca shredded beef, "damn good chicken," and fresh fried... hard shell tacos are amazing. If it?s ambience you?re after, well, you?ll get some whirring ambient noise from the car wash located just behind this walk-up... shack of Mexican delight. The fish burrito was delicious and the staff was super friendly. Would I bring a date here? Only if itwas an errand-date where getting the car washed was part of the plan. Have you ever sat down and thought, "If heaven was tangible and edible, what would it taste like?" No? Yeah, me either. However,... if I did, I would most definitely consider Machos Tacos the top candidate. Eat here. Now. The search for food is over. They're asmall Mom and Pop shop (always the best!) They have awesome and friendly staff. Food comes quick but tastes like they took everyounce of time to make it perfect. They're cash only for now, but there's a bank right across the street. The fact that the taqueria borders a car wash just makes it that much more interesting and authentic because the fellas working... on the cars regularly eat here, so it's almost like being at a Mexican truck stop. They have a lovely, spacious, rustic patio,which makes for a nice contrast with the neighboring car wash. As for the food: It's plentiful and delicious and priced veryreasonably (cash only, please), especially when you consider that everything-- that's right, everything--is made in-house exceptfor the tamales. The chips and crunchy tacos come out warm. The burritos are excellent and the white and sweet potato tacos arethe best in the area. The service is quick and efficient. Nick, the owner of more than two decades, truly loves his taqueriaand customers, and it shows. Don't forget to ask for either their salsa verde or salsa roja--both of them spiced just right andso good! Machos Tacos has long been one of my fave spots to eat in and chill out. Recommended! Not only are the tacos great but the prices are perfect. They have a great little back garden, shaded on a hot day. The man... behind the counter was great, and though my partner didn?t order, he made sure he had some water and chips. Wonderfulhospitality! Read more
I ordered the large "Burrito Plate" with just a cup of water and paid $14+ in cash (since they don't accept credit / debit... cards). I ate it there in the patio which was clean and adequately lighted. Since I was there after 8 pm on a weekday, I didn'thear the car wash noise as it was shutdown for the day. The workers there were polite and helpful and the fare was filling anddecent enough. There is no restroom, they accept only cash and there are no prices on the menu. Because I ate it there, theyincluded chips. If the prices were lower, I probably would return. Read more
I've been eating there 2-4 times a week the last month or so. The good: I order a burrito every time w/chips. Tasty, big, and... they substitute guaca for cheese, very filling. The salsa is decent. Not good: Eating there it is right next to a noisy carwash and noisy Vermont St. If this bothers you its a very good take-out place. Read more
