Reviews for Library Bar in Los Angeles, CA
Came here with a friend for some low-key Saturday night drinks. We walked into Gilt Bar upstairs which is equally as chic and... swanky. I will certainly have to come back there for food. We asked if there was a spot open for two, they informed us thatthere was not one for at least an hour unless we wanted to sit at a communal table. We opted to do that and it was a gooddecision. We were seated at the edge of a big table but there were open seats in between so we still had a little privacy. Theatmosphere down there is amazing. Speakeasy would definitely be the word to describe it, but there is a certain degree of classand old-world refinement about the space that makes it probably one of the best places in the city to sit down, sip on somedrinks and enjoy some good conversation that isn't drowned out at all by music or other people's conversations. The space issmall, intimate, and relatively quiet, which was refreshing compared to most other bars in the city that have loud music, bigrooms, cramped seating/standing, etc. I had the French 75 cocktail and a scotch. I thought the French 75 was just alright. Itseemed to be a pretty simple combination of gin, lemon and prosecco for $13, but it was a good sized drink. Next time I will getsomething else. I also had a Macallan scotch on the rocks, and the "rocks" was just one "rock" of ice. I was very pleased to seethat this type of ice cube was utilized as opposed to just a bunch of little cubes; the big chunk elevates the drink's flavorand doesn't water it down as badly or as fast as the small cubes. This is one of those little details that when paid attentionto is what separates the men from the boys in terms of expensive places to enjoy high quality drinks. Our server was good. Shewas knowledgeable enough to be able to tell me (without going back to look at the bottles) the Macallan was a sherry caskfinished scotch off the top of her head. Impressive. She was attentive but not overly so and honestly just d Read more
Loud place. Great mixed concoctions. Nice atmosphere but not able to hold conversations. Left after one drink.
I had an impossible burger and my mom had a regular burger. We also shared parmesan fries and the charcuterie board. Everything... was superb and we appreciated the late 7:00 p.m. happy hour. Read more
A nice find for cocktails and great throwback music. The literary spin on cocktails is a nice touch and the library wall is... worth taking a picture or two in front of. We had Theo as our bartender and he hooked our drinks up. The Tequila Mockingbird wassweet with a nice kick. Read more
Really nice place with lovely staff and excellent drinks. Drinks are a bit expensive but welcome to LA. But they have a good... happy hour which brings a lot of the excellent drinks down into an outright steal. Read more
One of the few bars in the area open before 5pm. The cocktails are literary puns in name and delicious in execution.
Opened Wednesday to Sundays with Happy Hour from 5-7 pm! A relaxing vibe that has books all around making the library... atmosphere. A fun concept and has a romantic/intimate vibe with it as well. Pretty good cocktails, but a bit on the pricierside. I really enjoyed the Bar Nuts for something to snack on. A bit spicy and sweet! For cocktails, the Tequila Mockingbird wasmy favorite! A spicy cocktail that was smooth! The Adventures of Blackberry Finn was tasty too. Overall, a cute bar in DTLA tocheck out! Read more
