An excellent venue for intimate concerts. I have been here for several shows and I have been satisfied every time. But every... time I've come here, the service by the waiters is very disjoint. I see them right down our orders but then our food and drinkscome out late or they forgotten what we've ordered. After being open for years and years and years, you think they'd have asystem by now. They always have great artists perform here. Went to see Joey Arias with a friend visiting from NY. Of course, I didn't get... tickets and it was sold out. They asked us to wait outside and they'd get us in if they could. Our good fortune smiled on us andwe were able to claim a no show table with a great view. Thank you to the great staff who were able to accommodate us. We had ablast! Read more

Russell Thompkins Jr. and the newly reformed LA Jazz Orchestra live at Catalina Night Club 27 October 2022 I bore witness to... greatness last night. The bill promised this and delivered massively! This monster was brought to life by The Pamela MossFoundation. The show featured two of the greats: Russell Thompkins Jr., legendary frontman for Philadelphia-based TheStylistics, and the newly reformed Los Angeles Jazz Orchestra, conducted by Charley Harrison and directed by Winston Byrd,Artistic Director. The band lit up Catalina Jazz Club on Sunset Boulevard last night to a capacity crowd. This show wasactually 30 years in the making according to Winston Byrd who related the story from the stage. I found many intertwinedstories herein. First, this was a dream of Byrd's, those 30 years ago when as a teen he played as a touring member of theStylistics' band. Thompkins adding, "We told his mom and pop that we'd take care of this youngin' on the road". The bondbetween these two musicians is strong and deep indeed. The joy they evoked onstage and the passion and emotion from Thompkins'voice, to the power of Byrd's horn were centerstage. It was evident to the sold out crowd these two adored playingtogether. But that is just part of the story, the real star of the evening was the LAJO. Massive horns with a drop-dead rhythmsection. Under the direction of the incomparable Charley Harrison, the band was tight and strong, powerful but delicate, and aforce to be reckoned with. One could call out each player for their amazing talent, musicianship and dedication to the world ofjazz, but while as many adjectives could be applied to each, their collective tightness soared. Featured players filled theroom with a whirling-dervish of energy and passion that swirled through this amazing show-space and hit each audience member inthe heart and soul. Thompkins' voice and delivery were spot-on, clear, concise and sublime, and while I was harkened back to myfirst c Read more

Good food. Good drinks and an intimate musical setting. The venue has really glowed up since my last visit years ago. The... parking structure is connected to the outdoor patio that leads you into the showroom. The showcase of talent along with theheadliner Eline Gibbs was fun and engaging for everyone. Read more

We had a great experience! We were greeted and served with class. Great venue to listen to live music. I like that it is... intimate and the tables are close together. Just like a typical jazz club you would see back in the 30s/40s. It was nice to besurrounded by people who just wanted to have a good time. We even got to dance in the small open spaces! Read more

This is a great jazz club! There are plenty of tables, but seating is pretty close. Proof of vaccine is required for entry. The... wait staff was nice and efficient for how many tables they had. The food is pretty good, but maybe a tad overpriced for what youget. Check this place out and support live music! Read more

My friend took me for my birthday. I knew it was not for me. Nothing against the musians. I just don't care for jazz. The seats... are to close to other people. The tables to small. My drink had no flavor. Food to expensive for the quantity. Couldn't wait toleave. The service is nice. Read more
