Reviews for Mai's Café & Bistro in London, ON
Came in for lunch around 12.30 and the place filled up quickly. Tried Tom yum soup, pho, mai's platter, pad Thai with chicken... and another pad thai with shrimp, and red beef curry. The soups had a very clean light taste, very true to basics. Tom Yum soupcame with plenty of vegetables and some glass noodles. The pho had a decent amount of beef with noodles. Mai's platter was agood introduction to their appetizer options. Each were decent. The wontons had a bit of cream cheese in the middle. And one ofthe appetizers were just firm tofu wrapped in spring roll wrap. The sauces that came with the platter were nice andcomplimentary to the appetizers. Their pad thai sauce is quite sweet. It has a prominent taste of ketchup. The chicken pad thaiwas more saucy than shrimp pad thai, and subsequently the shrimp pad thai was more towards our taste. I'm unsure if this is howthey make the chicken vs shrimp pad thai or if it was just human error in putting more sauce to one than the other. Some of thenoodles were over-cooked during the stir-frying process which made some parts quite densely chewy. In a way, this gave an addedtexture to the dish that worked well. Otherwise, I felt that the pad thai could have had a little bit more meat. Red beef currywas nice. It has the spiciness that hits at your throat. It's a good basic taste of coconut soup and red chilies. If you ask, they provide you with Sriracha sauce and chili oil. Otherwise, each table has salt and pepper. At the end of your meal, theybring your receipt and mint candies on a gold colour platter which was nice. Good service. Read more

Quaint small restaurant in Wortley Village that serves traditional Thai cuisine, as well as other dishes that are suitable for... local palates. Really enjoyed the rich flavour of the Green Curry with chicken ($13.99+tax), though wish the portion size waslarger. The Pad Thai w/ chicken ($13.99) is a classic and makes you wanting more. Mai's platter ($12.99) has an assortment ofappetizers to sample for the indecisive folks. Beautiful decor inside despite the unassuming exterior. Somewhat distinctrestaurant from the other pub-style restaurants mainly lining the block. Worth a visit! Read more

Food was alright. Ginger beef didn't have much ginger or flavor and one couldn't smell or get the flavor of lemon grass n other... herbs in Tom yum soup. Both the coconut cream and tom yum soup were salty. The best item was the pad thai which was verydelicious. Read more

First time customers and loved it. Super friendly service. I've noticed other Thai restaurants in London are raising prices... rapidly and cutting back on ingredients, but none of that here; everything is light and fresh, notably a great fresh variety ofthings in the curries. Great value for money and it was easy to find free street parking right out front. I'm sorry we hadn'ttried Mai's sooner and we will be back for sure. Read more
