We once again had the pleasure of dining on Indian food from The Jewel of India. We ordered 4 main courses along with rice and... pakora. We have been fans of the Jewel of India for several years, and we've never had a bad experience. I'm not sure if they recently... changed chefs, or what, but the take-out we got tonight was particularly outstanding, especially the chicken korma, and Baltychicken. I think there's going to be a race for the leftovers tomorrow. Super recommended! Read more
Total waste of money. Chicken biryani is not eatable at all. Chicken tandoori masala is not enough for 15$. Very less quantity... for the price and half of it is just oil. No raita or curd. Mulligawtny soup is a vegetable curry. Disappointed Read more
I came to this restaurant when I was a ESL student, it was 5 years ago, I remembered that their food was so delicious. Then I... moved to Ottawa and just come back few weeks ago. Yesterday I went to this restaurant and ordered some food for my boyfriend,the food was still good like it used to be! Their butter chicken is so creamy and the meat was cooked very soft. I went here for Eid dinner with friends and honestly I wasn?t too impressed with the taste. Of course the waitress and the owner... were nice and courteous. The lamb biryani was not to my liking at all. The rice was definitely not basmati and very clumpedtogether. The taste was generic, uninspiring, and bland. I actually enjoyed the vegetable sauce that came with the biryanibetter than the entree. Lamb biryani should elevate the savouriness of the lamb it?s cooked with, but this dish somehow dumbedthe flavour down. The lamb was tender and well cooked, but not quite flavourful. My friends had chicken biryani and other beefdishes. They echoed the same sentiments. Also the portions are quite small for the price and the curry dishes came with only onenaan. Looking at the menu for this restaurant, there is potential to reinvigorate their dishes and serve up some really tastydishes. I feel like the restaurant is playing it safe and trying to americanize a very rich and delicious cuisine. Read more
