We stop for BBQ in Lockhart several times a year, and really enjoyed Terry Black?s. The joint has a fun layout and the line... moved quick. The brisket, sausage, beef ribs and Mac-n-cheese were excellent! Read more

Newer building, indoor and outdoor seating, plenty of parking and prompt service. It rides a line between single-location,... incredibly unique BBQ pits and less-unique, chain BBQ franchises (as there are several locations in Texas), but it does itextremely well. Prompt service, good selection, cheaper adult beverages, and great food. Expect about $20 starting per person.Like the BBQ, love the sides (especially the cornbread). Highly recommend. Read more

The real downside to this place is that they are only opened Thursday, Friday, & Saturday. Who wouldn't mind to get a brisket... sandwich on just about any other day?! It was AMAZING! Let me start from the beginning, shall I... The parking lot was a littletight, but we were able to find a spot quickly. It was a first time going, so finding out just where to go was a littleconfusing. We had to enter from the pit area, & were greeted by friendly staff to assist us in the right direction. Theatmosphere outside was cozy, as well as when we entered, having seating flexibility of the indoors as well as outdoors. Space isa little limited for eating indoors, but there is quite a bit of space outside. We had to wait a bit in line to finally order, but it wasn't that long of a wait time. We started our order with the sides & dessert, getting the beans, rice, cole slaw, potato salad, & banana pudding, then headed to select what we came there for, the MEATS! I ordered the sliced beef sandwich, totally forgot to ask what cut of meat I wanted, but it was PERFECT! They have 3 types of sauces they offer: sweet, original, &tangy, which I think they used tangy, but honestly, it went well with the sandwich. We also ordered a pound of brisket, a poundof sausage, & had to get drinks for the souvenir cups! I got the sweet tea, which wasn't a disappointment. It had the rightamount of sugar, & was how sweet tea should taste like! The BEST part of this first experience, Veteran's Day! Yes, thisestablishment honors it's Veterans with 50% your WHOLE order!! They say thanks for our service, I say, thanks, & we appreciateyou supporting the Military. It was also NICE to have employees be as friendly as they were, to tie in everything alltogether! Onto flavor & taste... Since it was Veteran's Day, it was a PERFECT time to do a taste comparison, on brisket, withthe Original Black's BBQ. The Original Black's BBQ has always been the top BBQ joint in Lockhart, in MY opinion, UNTIL now.Little Read more

You have to visit this restaurant if you're ever in the area, better yet take a road trip to Lockhart Texas one weekend to have... lunch or dinner here at Terry Black's BBQ Restaurant, you will be glad you did! The food's good, a little bit confusing toorder, from what I am used to. In any event, you'll enjoy the ambiance, the friendliness of the staff and the food! Read more

This place was really nice. Located at the entrance of Lockhart, TX. They have a choice of seating for indoor and out. The pit... area gives you the opportunity to watch how it?s all made which I thought was really cool. Everything is a pretty penny, butwell worth it! The brisket was juicy, the mac n cheese was bomb, absolutely loved the jalapeño cheese sausage. I will be back!???? Read more

This place did NOT disappoint. Wife and I were immediately greeted by the staff who were quite friendly and communicable. Wife... and I have been to every BBQ joint in town and other notable spots across Texas, and I was impressed with Terry's. They had theusual BBQ sides but with a twist. The Mac and cheese was seasoned very well. Most of these BBQ joints don't season the Mac wellenough. The potato salad was slightly different with potatoes cut slightly bigger than others I usually have. I got 1/2lbs ofthe brisket and one jalapeno cheddar sausage. My wife got the original sausage. The brisket was moist and had a great Smokyflavor. The sausage had a slight kick but not overwhelmingly spicy. Staff checked on us at our table a few times and evengrabbed our trash. Staff seemed cheerful and lively, which is nice to see at any restaurant. I hope that lasts well beyond this"new" phase. I would rank this up there with Smitty's Market. I will definitely be going back. Read more

These guys know their stuff! Perfectly rendered fat on the brisket and amazing bark. Sausage was juicy but not too greasy. Ribs... were tender, perfectly cooked, not falling off the bone but bite through tender. Sides were delicious as well, but I?m more ofmeat guy so I won?t say too much about them. I grew up in Lockhart area and the original blacks was always my favorite in town.Terry has a similar flavor profile but takes it to the next level. Great stuff and they are instantly the best in town. Read more
