I'm reporting this afternoon the first visit to the new Markham St. location. Love the new building, and the ladies who provided... service at the front counter are the best ever. Our party ordered four dinner entrees. The chicken and dumplings with cornbreadthat I could were truly cooked to perfection, just like grandma used to make. I ordered a bowl and received what looked morelike a cup though. Bigger servings would be appreciated. My wife's steak sandwich was perfect in all respects, she said, and mydaughter in law was very happy with the huge fried catfish platter. My son, however, said the mushroom Swiss burger wasterrible, the worst he's ever had. It was tiny and came with no visible Swiss cheese anywhere. So, good and bad to report. Uneven. I found their meatloaf a horrible mess of goo. Their pot roast itself good and portion generous. The carrots that went... with it soggy and without taste. Hamburger ok.Etc. Worth a try, IMHO, if it's handy and you want some fast food that's not FriedEverything Read more
The actual burger patty tasted great, but for one meat patty on a smashed tiny bun on top of a very small amount of fries, it... was not worth what we paid. Unfortunately, it was ordered drive thru, and I didn't turn around and go back. From all thehype about their great food, I was horribly UNIMPRESSED, and it was not worth what I paid. This place was very close to where we were staying for the night so we decided to give it a try. They were not busy so there was... no wait time. When we approached the counter to order the girl taking our order literally just stood there and stared at us. Nohi, how you doing, can I help you, nothing. Just stood there with a blank look on her face. So we just started telling her whatwe wanted and she looked as about enthusiastic as someone scheduling a root canal as she took our order. I ordered the hickorysmoke burger with fries and my wife picked the chicken strip dinner with fries and a salad. The wait time to get our food wasn'ta really long time but was a little longer than I thought it would take to make one burger and some chicken strips and a smallsalad but there was also orders going out through drive thru so I'm sure that played a part. When the food arrived I wassurprised at how small the burger was and how thin the patty was. But it had a good flavor. My wife's chicken was cooked nicelyand was moist but both of us agreed that the fries had been cooked in old grease or something and neither of us could eat them.She said the ranch for her salad also had an odd taste like it had gotten hot at one time or another. The whole time we werethere we watched the girl behind the counter and decided that she just didn't like being at work because her attitude was thesame towards everyone that came in. This is the place we stop for a quick homemade- but -not - at home burger. Hickory burger is our favorite- juicy and good... flavor. Baked beans are standard but good. Onion rings are always hot and fresh and yum! Cherry cobbler consistently good.Person at the window is always nice. Read more
If you want a low-key super casual steak dinner experience than look no further. My steak was cooked properly (medium), seasoned... well and arrived quickly. The baked tater and Texas toast are good. The salad is pretty basic but it's good enough for me. Andthe staff are quite friendly as well. This place doesn't have the looks of the fancier and pricier steak houses but they producea comparable if not better meal. Read more
The chili cheese hot dogs were a cheap brand. There was hardly any chili on the dog. The only good foid item was the hot... crispy fries. That's why I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 star. I definitely won't go back there. Read more
