Reviews for Haight-Brown Vineyard in Litchfield, CT
My friend and I stopped in here after visiting the wonderful cowboy museum down the road. We split a bottle of the Pink Cadillac... rose and the charcuterie board. We enjoyed both very much. Justin, one of the new owners, served us and told us the entire placehad been renovated and the grape harvest increased under the new ownership. I had visited here a number of years ago and theplace did look quite different. Still have my glass from the previous visit! Looks like a nice place to host events. Read more
Sooo amazing!! Cute cozy space, love the wine/brandy cocktails, and the charcuterie was delicious. Highly recommend????
New owners. We went on a slow snowy afternoon and the owner was pouring and very personable. Was conscious of an apple allergie... and customized the brandy mulled wine into a brandy toddy. Slight limit on the wine variety with only one red wine. The newowners gave the interior a fresh bright look. Read more
I stopped in here with two others on a Monday afternoon after visiting the area. We were excited to see it was open on a Monday... and also that it wasn't very crowded. The inside is so cute and it smells amazing inside. The fires going and the wood floorsmake this place charming and cozy feeling. They had a lot of white wines and then quite a few wine cocktails on the menu whichwas different. They only had 1 red unfortunately and I would say it was alright. They also had a great sounding charcuterieplatter with local meat and cheeses. Overall it was cute, I'd recommend a stop in especially if you like white wine. Read more
Great visit after a ramble at the beauteous White Memorial Preserves Vineyard Trail. Litchfield. Erin was a most gracious host... and I so enjoyed the chilled Pink Cadillac Rose - tangy, not sweet and just what I needed after a hot ramble, but so worthwalking through a vineyard (down the road from the actual winery)! There are a great selection of wines to choose from, youare sure to find one to your taste, so I highly recommend visiting the oldest CT winery! Read more
Great afternoon here! Just outside of the town center and down the road from some great hiking trails. The wine flights are any... selection of 4 for $15. They also have some nice cheese plates to share. The seating on the upper deck gives a great view ofthe vineyard. There is a little store inside that has all the wines for sale, as well as some local products and wineaccessories. Went around 1:30pm and had no problem getting a table for four. Read more
The first thing we noticed when we arrived was just how deserted this winery was at 5 p.m. on a Friday afternoon. There were... three cars in the parking lot, two of which were employees'. The lobby wasn't much better, housing little more than an emptydeli case and aging armchair. We didn't see a soul until we got to the bar area on the second floor, and only one other couplecame in afterwards. The workers were friendly enough, and knew enough about the vineyard's offerings to serve us quickly. Theservice at times seemed too brisk; particularly when we ordered a cheese tasting and the server did little more than rattle offthe names of the offerings before scurrying back behind the bar. The wine itself was 'meh.' The two of us shared two bottles:the Riesling and the Strawberry Bliss. I'm no connoisseur, but I enjoyed the Riesling well enough. The Strawberry Bliss, on theother hand, was simply Riesling with strawberry flavoring added - and that's according to the bottle. It wasn't bad by anymeans, but was a little disappointing to see at a winery - no less one that claims to be Connecticut's oldest. Aside from beingsparsely populated, the winery itself is pleasant. Traditional wine making equipment decorates the front lawn, which is nicelycomplimented by a tree-lined walkway to the front door. You can see the grape vines on the side of the main building as soon asyou pull in, and the rear terrace offers views of the rest. The owners clearly don't fancy themselves a big tourist trap -farming equipment is plainly scattered around the grounds, and the vineyard has more of an agricultural atmosphere than that ofa tasting room. All-in-all I think this vineyard can best be described as 'nice enough.' Everything is of enough quality to beenjoyable, but nothing will blow you away and there are some pretty glaring flaws. It was a nice place to stumble on after ahike nearby, but certainly nothing to make a trip for. Read more
