I am giving it 2 stars because the service was perfect- but that?s it. They either have to change the menu or the cook. We ended... up, the four of us, eating from one order- the chicken schnitzel, which was indeed good. Soups were way too salty, the stuffedcabbage tasted like Spam, the duck need to be spiced up and definitely need some complementary sauces, overall this is not aplace for food connoisseurs. PS: I?ve seen the way the owner responds to criticism (other reviews) so I?m expecting someattitude but I would suggest to take the good part out of what I said and try to improve the quality of the food they servethere. An excellent taste of Germany in Lisle! Cozy atmosphere makes you think you are in a German lodge. Great selection of beer,... ciders, and cocktails. The schnitzel is phenomenal! Do yourself a favor and also order the hot pretzel rolls to complement youramazing meal. Read more
This place is the real deal! Went for dinner on a Friday night. No wait. Atmosphere was super cozy. Service was good, the waiter... made recommendations for drinks and food and called me ?miss? every time. I had a great cocktail and the special of the night,stuffed cabbage. Delicious! The liver dumpling soup was an experience, I liked the flavor but not sure about the dumplingtexture? My friend got potato dumplings which I tried and those were not as good as my main course in my opinion but I think I?mjust not a huge dumpling gal. Pretzel bread was nothing super special but still nice to get hot bread to the table. I?m stillgiving five stars because everything I ordered was awesome and I can?t wait to go back and try more things off of theirextensive menu! Read more
Classic delicious German food and drinks. We?ve been here a few times and its always top notch, they have an amazing selection... of German draft beers, its always a good idea to hit up the bar before you sit down for dinner. Everything weve had on the menuhas been delicious. The liver dumpling soup is one of the best I?ve had. You will not leave here hungry, thats for sure. My husband and I came here for our Friday date night and loved our experience. We were told to expect a 40 min wait, but got a... table within 5 min of arriving! ?Ambience - Dark, moody and felt very cozy. Restaurant was very clean. ????Drinks - We tried aScottish stout and German gluhwein and liked both! The gluhwein was served warm and was delicious with some citrusnotes. ????????Food - We picked the two vegetarian options on the menu - pierogi pomodoro and veggie schnitzel. Both come witheither a soup or salad. The salad with red pepper garlic dressing was amazing! Out of the two entrees, the schnitzel wasdefinitely my favorite. Crispy on the outside, and delicious mix of veggies inside. The sides were mashed potatoes and butteredcorn. The pierogi was tasty too, but the sauce was a bit too tomato-y for me. We also got a pretzel basket which were fresh outof the oven just then - warm and delicious! ??Service - Quick, attentive and friendly.
